NESBA Midwest Track Info

Work in progress that I will add to whenever I have a chance to. This will hold all the info with regards to the various tracks that NESBA goes to in one place. Hopefully, this will make it easier to find the info all in one place. Again, work in progress, a lot of info going in...

The most Current NESBA Dates can always be found HERE

NESBA Midwest Tracks:

Autobahn Country Club
Joliet, IL
Dates:
North Course -
South Course - Not running it in 2007 (we don't like the surface)
Full Course -
Lodging - Most of the NESBA folks camp on-site. Camping for the weekend is $30. Very nice shower and bathroom facilities are available, however no power is available. Camping is in the paddock area.
Any recommendations for local hotels anyone wants to share?
Description:
Track Info:
Track Map - Autobahn North (VIDEO)
1.46 miles long, 40 feet wide, 9 Turns, 4 straights (595 ft, 846 ft, 1075 ft, 1237 ft) Very fast and flowing track. Fairly flat with one double apex turn. EXCELLENT track for beginners and experienced riders alike.
Track Record - Autobahn North: 1'03.768"
Track Map - Autobahn South
2.1 miles long, 40 feet wide, 15 turns, longest straight is 1850 feet, two chicanes. Very fast and very technical track.
Track Record - Autobahn South: 1'25.962"
Track Map - Autobahn Full (VIDEO)
3.56 miles long, 40 feet wide, 21 turns. this is the combined North and South courses described above. Watch out for "The Jump" in the South to North transition.
Track Record - Autobahn Full:

Blackhawk Farms
South Beloit, WI
Dates:
Lodging: Most of the NESBA folks camp on-site. Camping for the weekend is FREE. Shower and bathroom facilities are available, power is available for $25 for the weekend. Camping is in the paddock area, CLSB usually tries to gather near between turns 4 and 5. We try to have a nice cookout on Saturday nights, bring your food to cook and liquid to consume. if you want to hotel it, Comfort Inn is nearby.
Description: 1.95 miles, 7 turns. This is a flowing and TIGHT technical track. Two small straights and hard braking technical sections. This is a very popular track and hosts many CCS racing events.
Repaved in 2006, this track is a blast, and has the most relaxed feeling of any of the NESBA weekends in the Midwest.
Track Map
Track Record: 1:09.6 by Mark Junge, prior record 1'09.89" by Larry Denning

Gingerman
61414 Phoenix Road
South Haven, MI 49090
Dates:
Lodging
Description: 1.88 miles, 36 feet wide, 11 turns, 1423 foot longest straight.
Track Map (VIDEO)
Track Map - Color
This track is VERY well liked by many riders. It is often requested as a destination. The track is flowing, with fast sections, tight sections, a carousel and a couple of medium length straights. It has slight elevation changes and a GREAT track layout. Be wary of the "Grooves". The track was laid down in three 10 foot wide sections, and there are 2 grooves that run the length of the track between the three sections. This can be distracting, and in some places you should avoid the grooves at full lean angle.
Track Record: 1'23.08"

Grattan Raceway
7201 Lessiter Road
Belding, MI
616-691-7221
Dates:
Lodging: Camping is available on site, however NOT in the paddock area. Plan on partying into the wee hours of the night at the Grattan Bar, just near the track. NESBA usually stays at the Candlewood Inn ((877) 660-8541) Other Options
Description: 2.2 mile road course, 12 Turns, with flowing off-camber BLIND corners and elevation changes. VERY technical. 3,200 foot straightaway, a 160 degree hairpin turn and a downhill reverse camber turn. And you just gotta love "The Jump". This track is a great layout and is used often for motorcycle racing.
Track Map
Track Record (cw): 1:18.9 Tray Batey (reported by Grattan)
Reported by Dean: Robert Jensen 1:19.004 (set July 14)

Heartland Park
7530 S Topeka Blvd
Topeka, Kansas 66619
785-862-4781 , 800-43-RACES (800-437-2237)
Dates:
Description: 1.5 to 2.5 mile configurations, newly repaved. This track is a total blast. It has been repaved completely in 2006, and the surface is wonderful. The track has high speed areas, chicanes, tight switchbacks, a small carousel, and two long straights. It is WELL worth the drive, period. It is one of my favorite midwest tracks.
Lodging: There is a Brand New Forbes Landing Super 8 nearby, which is also the closest hotel to the track. You can walk next door to the bar where we eat, drink, and play pool. Again, if you haven't been there, make the trip!
Track Maps (VIDEO)
Track Record:

Mid America Motorplex
19340 Jesup Ave.
Pacific Junction, IA (near Omaha, NE)
712-622-8122
Dates:
Lodging: Camping is available on site for $25 for the weekend. Great private showers, and restrooms. No power available, so bring your generators. Hotel is just a mile or so away.
Description: 2.23 mile, 15 turns, this is a fun, fast flowing track that has a couple of double apex style turns, a great front straight, mid-straight kink, and a couple of chicanes. It has a great mix of turns that really makes you work, and it is a great place to improve your skills. You can see the whole track from either set of grand stands. It is WELL worth the drive from Chicago, I had a TON of fun there. Onsite concessions during track hours (breakfast & lunch), plan on bringing your own dinner or heading out elsewhere.
Track Map
Track Record: 1'31.7" (I heard it was now 1:29 but I am looking for confirmation of that.)

Miller Motorsports Park
2901 N. Sheep Lane
Tooele, Utah 84074
801-563-4250
Dates: Not posted yet
Description: 4.5 miles on the full course, 24 turns, 12 straights (longest is 2855ft) According to the AMA, this is the safest and newest track in America. Designed by the same team that designed Barber Motorsports in Birmingham, AL. This event is a Mid Central Region event. Take vacation, you won't regret it. this is many of our favorite track anywhere. It is a HIGH speed track, and it a total blast. If you can, be sure to tape the AMA when they are at Miller, you'll be convinced to make the trip.

Description: 4 miles long, 14 turns, THREE long straights. This is considered by many to be the fastest and longest track in the US. Hey Wink, coupla suggestions.

Add in recommended Hotel and camping info since those questions always get posted.

Also, I would pull out dates since these change all the time and you don't want the hassle of trying to keep updating this thing constantly. Just put a link to the Nesba track dates website, http://nesba.com/Info/trackevents.aspx

Good idea by the way. Rep points on the way.

EDIT:

I asked the guy at the gate once whether camping was still allowed. He just laughed and said, "This IS Blackhawk Farms, isn't it?"

So, I'm going to take that as a yes, and a sign that they don't intend to charge campers any time soon.

Hey Wink... I think you typo'd when you entered the first Grattan time. But, a NEW record just set July 14th.

1 152 Robert Jensen 1:19.004

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.

Dean, no typo, that is the time that Sam (owner) of Grattan gave me for lap record. I have yours posted now as well for Rob. Most likely Sam made a mistake, I'll confirm.

Update made for Mid America Motorplex... what a great place, we need to make sure we take a bunch of CLSBers there next year. Tons of fun at that track!

Cool thread.

I had started an excel spreadsheet for the keeping track info handy and places to stay etc. I deleted it as this is much better.

Anyone keeping track maps with notes on the actual tracks surfaces and lines for reference?
Kind of a reminder of rough spots on the surface or favorite lines etc.?
