I saw him go off-roading. He kept it up, got back on the track, and passed me. He was moving though. I think he said he was hitting some :11s.

Was that right after his high speed endo?

I was right behind him when that happened, he had the bike at at least a 45 degree angle. Nice job keeping it on it's wheels.

I think he also spilled in turn one in front of myself. Looks as if he looked at the grass and just drove in that way. Slow speed tip over I think. Didn't want to look to much otherwise I would have been there with him..

Yeah, that was an interesting moment. I was closing pretty quickly on the guy in front of me going into T5 and had intended to just go around him on the outside. He drifted all the way out, and since no inside passing, I had to check up pretty hard. By the time I got the rear wheel back down, I was offroading.

not too bad weekend. I posted a new PR for ABN at 1:11.77 and a had a handful of higher :11's when I got some clear track to wor with.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was seen dirt tracking that weekend. If I had done it one lap later, Wink would have it on tape.

Note to self: Don't ask an AMA rider to come out and help shake down quick laps and then try to remember the grocery list while riding.

That's why I'll never become an aggressive pursuer on the track. I never get on anyone's ass cuz I'm scared of what they'll do!

It ain't when they run off the track that you are at risk, it is when they stay on the track.

One of the things I wanted to work on that weekend was making my lines tighter, so I really focused on that. A guy I know mentioned that a CR had told him that to get the bump to A (which he got), he wanted to see knee-dragging-over-the-rumble-strip tight lines. I kept that in mind, since I'd been hoping to get it that weekend. That one was a little bit too close and popped the rear wheel out abit. That was an oops for sure.

Rob,

Not sure who the CR was, but most likely the intent was this; NAIL the apex, be consistent. If you can repeatedly drag knee over the same (correct) spot, lap after lap, with good body position & speed, while following the class rules, then you are getting ready for the bump. Next steps are to ensure that you will fit into the A pace, and you are a predictable rider, and can handle close passing.

Anyhow, since you are in Bloomington, will we see you at Putnam the second weekend of Sept?

By the way, did you see the Bloomington dinner thread for NESBA folks for tomorrow night?

I didn't see that thread. I'm not on the NESBA board very often. I wish i could attend, but I have a law school function at the same time.

I'm still undecided whether or not I'll be at Putnam. Both of the Ducs are in the shop with electrical issues, and the only reliable track bike I have at the moment is the KTM, which NESBA won't allow. The last time I signed up for an event and ended up duc-less, I had to eat the $300 dollars for the weekend. With that in mind, I'm hesistant to sign up. That, and I think my membership expires at the end of this month.
