1st trackday

So I won the NESBA free trackday, and I have plenty of questions and just too lazy to use the search function;

1. How many laps are we going to do?
2. How to prepare my street bike?(I know I have to disconnect the lights and cover them, ,,,,cover them with what? duck tape?)
3. Is it wise to ride the bike to the track?
4. Can I rent a leather suit anywhere?
5. Can I buy fuel inside BHF or should I bring my own.

You guys can tell that I'm a rookie when it comes to race track so I thank you very much for any help that you can give me.

Aloha,
JustaGuy

P.S. Thank you CLSB and NESBA for this opportunity.

1. As many as you can in 20 minutes.
2. Go to the nesba site and read the riders manual.
3. No
4. Yes Nesba rents them, see Garth.

1. How many laps are we going to do?
** There are 3 twenty minute sessions. Advanced is up at the top of the hour, Intermediate at 20 after and Beginner is at 20 till. You will most likely be in begginer so your first session will be at 9:40 and you will run for 20 minutes. Do as many laps as you want in that 20 minutes. last sessions begin at 4 pm and ends at the conclusion of B session as the clock strikes 5
2. How to prepare my street bike?(I know I have to disconnect the lights and cover them, ,,,,cover them with what? duck tape?)
** I would get some blue painters tape so it doesn't leave that gummy crap that duct tape does on your headlights and tail lights. I would also disconnect the fuses for the headlight and brake light so you don't heat up that tape and have a mess.
3. Is it wise to ride the bike to the track?
** I wouldn't ride to the track. Your going to have a day of HARD riding with lots of adrenaline flowing and after the day is over you will most likely be exhausted. You can check the CLSB NESBA board to see if you can share a ride with someone
4. Can I rent a leather suit anywhere?
** I would call NESBA and see if Garth will have your size available...if he doesn't maybe you could borrow one from a fellow member...to do this make a post of what you need and put it up on the CLSB NESBA board and you most likely have someone that is your size that has a spare suit for you to use.
5. Can I buy fuel inside BHF or should I bring my own
** Bring your own, the fuel inside BHF is INSANELY expensive. if you can rideshare with someone just grab one 5 gallon can and that should be good for the day.

1. Seven 20-minute sessions per day...and yes, the number of laps is based on how fast (or slow) you are.
2. Disconnect all lights, cover them with tape (blue painter's tape works great) and take off mirrors. I think that's all, but double-check the NESBA manual.
3. Wise, probably not. Doable, sure. Things to consider: How will you get your gear to the track? How will you get home if you can't ride your bike back? There are several people who have space in their trailers for another bike and your gear. If you do decide to ride to the track, it'd be a major pain to pack everything onto the bike as well.
4. Yes, NESBA offers them for (I believe) $50. You can also ask to borrow for the day, as several people have spares.
5. Cheaper to bring your own, but I think you can buy it at BHF if you need to.

Some other tips - bring lots of water or Gatorade, and make sure you drink it! Also, a lawn chair is a good idea. If you have an EZ-Up or can share with someone, you'll be golden. Have fun and don't rush yourself - the track is really different from the street! It's an awesome experience and BHF is a great track to be your first.

Just about everyone here has ridden to their first track day. If not their first few.

IMO, your first day out is no time to be pushing anything to the point of potentially wiping out anyway. You should be focusing on being smooth and learning the track. If you have the means, trailer it, if not, don't sweat it!

Here's what happens when you are running late and riding to the track

It was fun but I'm a little bit disapointed. I had a good 1st and 2nd session but 3rd and 4th was not good. During the 1st and 2nd session I was following a CR and it was all good, then I went solo on the third and went off the track. The fourth was kinda the same thing(I think I was getting tired). So after 2 bad sessions I decided to call it a day.
I saw you just before I left but you were taking a nap, maybe next time.
