sorry for all the threads but i felt that i should have my own...
wow. what an experience. i don't know what to say. everyone was so damn helpful it was unreal. i had won a free track day through CLSB and Wink helped me from day one by trailing my bike up to BHF.
i went into the day knowing a decent amount of what i needed to do in order to be decent on the track but after my first session i realized i couldn't actually implement those techniques. i was completely discouraged after my first session and was saying in my mind "this isn't for me." after the second session i had gotten a bit better and had changed my mind again. as the day progressed i got tips from wink, ron, greg, brian and everyone else imaginable. it really helped my confidence. so much so that i even stayed for sunday's session. thanks again wink!! day two was even better. i could implement what i learned during saturday's session and improve even further. i had a few close calls with the rumble strips and actually ran off in 6 after coming in too hot (for me) and chickened out. i preferred to ride in the grass rather then lowside a brand new bike. on my last session i went out with mr hix. he carried me through the track and i was draggin' the knee through quite a few of the turns (yes i realize this doesn't make me fast :flip ). but from the first time out to the last session, man what a turn around. it was AWESOME!!! if you can't tell i'm still pumped.
it was an exhausting experience but an amazing one. i'm sore as hell this morning but i can't wait to get out and do another. Wink, greg, ron, twink, brian and everyone else i can't thank you enuf for helping me with everything. giving me a place to sleep so i could stay another day. giving me some grub at the end of the day. for all the invaluable tips and techniques that helped me improve from the first session on. and not to get even sappier, i'm seriously moved by the willingness to help out a complete stranger. you guys are rad (i think i've used awesome enuf in this post). thanks again and maybe i'll see everyone in two weeks!
