October 21st Grattan Raceway Rollcall

Anyone going? I won a free track day for this and it will be my first time at this track. I have some questions if anyone can help me?

Does it make sense to get a hotel there the night before, or do most people camp like they do at BH Farms in Beloit?
If hotel is the way to go, where do you recommend that is close to the track.

Thanks.

I mite try and make this depending on the weather. My bike mite be back together by then. Personally I have never had a problem with the sealer Grattan uses, I think "The Sealer" is stickier than the pavement below it. Go for a track walk at Grattan next time you go. The sealer is actually this gritty pavement/contrete mix. Grattan Kicks ass repaved or not.

I usually sleep in my van outside the track and save my money for fuel and tires.

So we can go in on say Saturday the 20th and then just bed down in the SUV for the night to then get up for the track day I have on the 21st. That will work.

Thanks man.

Have fun up there, ride safe, let your tires get warm before you hit it. 2 laps bro, give it 2 laps for your tires to heat up especially in late October. The weather could be completely crap up there anyway. If it's going to be nice I mite go, but if its going to be a high of 50 it isn't worth it, I'll go ride the dirtbike instead.

We usually just camp at the track. They charge a nightly fee and the bathrooms suck, but you can deal with it.

Thanks I'll take your advice. Since I'm new to the track scene I don't run at full tilt anyways as I have a lot to learn before I really start pushing it. Hope it isn't too bad as long as it hits 50's I'm happy.

yeah but not in mid October lol...I would stay in a hotel if I were you!!!

Not to mention, what time does the gate close at Grattan?? The lock the gates after a certain time, but you can still sleep outside the track (there's an area with a bathroom as well). HOWEVER, being mid-October, if it were me, hotel all the way!!!

My bike is still track prepped, so it depends on the weather for me. I'll most likely only do one day cuz my tires are close to gone and I don't want to buy new ones that will just sit all winter. We'll see...

How much is it to ride Sunday if I just show up? I'm seriously thinking about going out there Sunday morning.
