Hey Wink,

Can you give me some info on Mid-America. I don't know anything about it and wanted to get your opinion on it. Hows the layout, surface, grounds, ect.

I guess I should refer you to Mike/Dave Lockhart. They LOVE it!

Layout is fantastic, track surface is smooth and safe. There are some small grooves, but they don't upset the bike at all.

The track is a mix of everything.

High speed chicanes
Decreasing radius double apex turn
Increasing radius double apex turn
High speed knee on the ground kink
Wide open front straight
Balanced double apex turn
Short S section....

Only thing it lacks is elevation changes. All that said, it is an AWESOME track and usually an EMPTY track. SO... you can have a ton of fun working on and improving whatever it is that you want to work on. I'd say for best all around variety of turns, it is one of the top track layouts I know of.

This track is a blast on a 1000 and on a 250. I have had some of my most fun laps on this course riding our SV with Greg, Mopar, Dave and Mike. Can you tell that I love this track?

BTW - I forgot to mention, you are more than welcome to rideshare with us out to MAM this year.

+1 to whatever Brian said, only thing I wish it had were some hills. Can't wait to race there next year... The only real bumps I can think of are in the braking zone for T1 and one in the middle of the track right around the apex of T4 that really jolts the bike if you hit it. Easily remedied by hugging the inside though until corner exit.

And the showers at MAM are top notch

No, it sucks! ya'll stay away

The turns are too long, there is way too much much runoff, and the staff do a terrible job at being jerks.

Run off, I forgot all about run off. In essence, you don;t need brakes anywhere on the entire rack if you ran off the track except in T11 and the last turn (T15) coming onto the straight. And even those have plenty of room.

Facilities - Awesome showers, good food.

They have an 1/8 mile drag strip that runs on Sat nights and it is fun to watch that as well. Camping on premise is available and they have recently added power in the paddock.

Friday night is grudge night. $20 run what ya brung, line up as often as you want. I watched a few quads, bikes, minivans and pretty much anything elses that rolls, line up. Might be a chance for the racers to practice launches or a pit bike showdown.

It's been years since Ive been to MAM; actually I think we were there a few months after they opened, I recall all the positives mentioned, but also remeber a very dusty track and a tarpitlike infield. Ask Jack for a shot of his runoff. I assume they filled that in with grass over the years?

Infield is all very very nice grass throughout.

BTW, when Mopar crashed he had two beers with him, crashed the Fitty, but didn't spill any beer.

Great track. i believe it was the second one i ever road. +1 on the runoffs. i used to those my advantage a couple of times. the runoff coming into turn one off the straight is probably a good 100 yards or so. as mentioned before the only thing it lacks is elevation changes.
