2009 NESBA Bash (Starter Thread)

Ok folks, so I am getting ready to put this together for this years Bash again. I already have Durty Nellie's set aside for two weekends in case we don't find another location. I'd like to get something booked in the next week or so.

I can hold it where we have had it before or move it to a new location.

What we are looking for is the following:

Our own area (at least for a few hours)
Bar right there
Food available
Ability to DJ our own event
Multiple Projection screens for showing Pictures of the 2008 Season
Late hours and they like nut case crowds
Can handle up to 250 people
Does not require pre-pay or facility rental
Availability of a Saturday night end of January or beginning of February
Microphone so that we can do give aways.
Area for Awards Night / Giveaways

(anything else I should add?)

Location: Chicago Suburbs

I have held it at Durty Nellie's the past three years and can hold it there again if we wish. (I already have a date there reserved) It does fit all the above criteria, although it would be nice to have our own space past 10pm.

Durty Nellie's has an upper room that I can reserve instead of the band room for the whole night.

BTW - We tried unsuccessfully last year to find a different location that fit our requirements. Perhaps the economy this year will help make a place available. We normally have about 200 folks.

Suggestions?

If you are willing to have a limited food choice, you could try a Banquet Hall type place. That would be totally private, and they can set the space however you wish.

I also have a good friend who does event planning professionally. She can track down venues and negotiate any particulars. If you want me to talk with her about this, let me know.

I vote for Nellie's. Wink, if you need any help with this, let me know. I have lots of time, unfortunately.

Nellie's has been good.... thanks for all the hard work Wink.

Would be better if....... we could keep the room for the balance of the evening and not get the event drowned out by the band and disrupted
by "the public". just my :02

In order to keep the room, we need the upstairs room. Trying to confirm that today.

Big Tom was uber drunk last year. Nellies is great!

...I'm putting a ban on Alex's verbal abuse of old college lady "friends" again, should we encounter any this year

If we can get the upstairs we should stay there, but if not you should look into the Round House. Round House is great! It has tons of large rooms.

I'm down for wherever it's going down.

Wink, do you have an idea of what weekend you're looking at?

Current target weekends are Jan 24th or 31st. Pref the 31st.

As far as Roundhouse, they wanted room rental and a guaranteed minimum spend last year. I wonder if they'll be more flexible this year. Anyone know an owner or manager there?
