data AQ

At BHF a few weeks ago I met the guy from traqmaterentals. I have been following affordable (not Pi) data AQ systems on some sportcar racing forums and have been curious as to how they are working out on bikes.
Any input from some users (cue Mr Hix)

why would they work any different on a bike?

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

The accelerometers readings are effected by the leaning. The GPS stuff seems pretty good. I have been hearing for a while that Traqmate was going to add some bike specific stuff (gyro/ bank indicator) and then they could do the math to correct the accelerometer inputs. I think RacePack already has the gyro, but their software/ interface is more pro level, where you would employ a person to make sense of the graphs and squiggly lines.

I rented from Jeff the 12th and 15th. I'm hooked. The lateral accellerometers are useless, of course, but the longitudinal ones do provide some interesting data. For a guy like me, being able to see the data really helped me understand how badly some of my habits were hurting me. From one day to the other I gained .3 sec. in T2 and .9 between the entry of the busstop and the exit of T5.

I actually started looking into writing an app to do this with phone hardware, but the speed and accuracy of phone GPS hardware is not up to the task. Not that I expected 40hz, but the 1hz that some of the APIs are limited to is way too low, and my observation with my phone is that it's not going to even do that very well. I may still hack something together as an experiment, but there's a reason a good cell phone is 400 and the traqmate basic is 600, and it ain't all volume.

It just does that

But wait, there's more! XT Racing released their product: http://www.xtracing.com/en/gpxpro/index.php

5 analog channels, a better display, and 3 axis accelerometer, for under 700. That just might win.

It just does that
