Getting ready for my first on 7/11 Autobahn N

I'm signed up for my free intro at Autobahn on the 11th, and I'm trying to get everything in order now. Just had a couple questions.

1) I plan to pony up the rest of the cash to stay the whole day if I don't shit my pants. There's a 15 dollar fee for late registration, will I have to pay that too?

2) My GS500F isn't very fast. Is keeping up going to be an issue?

3) I'd like to have some stuff to remember it by. Are there photographers or anything? I'm also half thinking some onboard video might be cool, would a cheap setup like the one from this instructable be allowed, or would I have to buy a purpose built one like the sportbikecam mount.

http://www.instructables.com/id/Came..._a_motorcycle/

4) They say intro riders are welcome to stay if theres room in the beginner class, whats the likelyhood this will be full?

Certainly more questions to follow as I keep pouring through the riders manual...

Welcome.

1) don't know
2) keeping up is not the idea, riding better is. So, no that is not a issue.
3) make sure everything on your bike is secured and safe for you and the other riders, that includes the camera.
4) don't know

I'll be there saturday and if you want, you are more than welcome to pit with me. I'll do my best to keep you pointed in the right direction.

I'd like to someday do this, but having only 1 bike limits my options: don't wanna accidently trash the only thing I've got.

Dare to dream ... someday ... isn't MegaMillions up to 94 million or something right now?

1) I don't think you'll have to pay the late registration fee since you are already registered as a intro rider
2) You're bike will be fine as long as it meets all the safety standards for the intro/beginner group as defined in the manual
3) There is a control rider, Matt G, that takes the time to take pics when he is in attendance. There may be a professional photographer there too. I don't think that indestructable mount will pass tech due to the metal sticking out that far off the side of the bike. Most people are using the GoPro Hero camera setups these days.
4) Registration for the beginner group may fill up but there is a VERY good chance that you will still be able to continue the day if you're registered as a intro rider

See you there!

I emailed 2 days ago to reserve a suit, any idea how long it will take for them to get back to me?

Here's another...but I will be there on Monday July 13th for the full-course. Can't freakin' wait. This will be my 2nd track day, and for this one, i'm in the same boat as you - doing the intro class, may sign up for the whole day.

I just bought the whole suit, boots, gloves, etc. figuring I'll be using them more in the future. Motorcyclesuperstore.com has great deals, free shipping, and if you don't like what you got, you can return it and get a full refund (minus only $6.99 for shipping). Hell, it would cost more than that just for me just to drive to a shop and back to try on stuff!

At Chicago Cycle, they have NESBA/Yamaha brochures that'll give you $25 off if you do the day.

They told me I could stay for the day if I wanted to pay the fees, with no mention of it possibly being full. Although I am going on Monday.

What a freakin' track! It's like a mini IOM TT!!

accidents on the race track ? never heard of .... in fact , there you have much more control over the situation then anywhere alse on the street.

don't even think about trashing your bike. if you are prudent, it will not happen. period.

ONE track day will not ruin your bank account. do the track day. you'll have fun riding and meeting new people. deal with MegaMillions (and your second track day ) problem later.

Especially when you can do the intro class for FREE! 40 minutes on the track for free is damn worth the price, if you ask me. Granted you do need leathers, boots, and gloves, but either you have that stuff already or can rent it there for $50.

Right, it's the next 7 track days that will kill you!

I'm just telling the wife "Hey, look on the bright side, I'm not hooked on drugs, I'm not an alcoholic, and I'm not cheating on you. Could become a spouse abuser, though."

Anybody know anything about reserving the suit? The site said to email them, and I did with no response yet...

Think there will be any CLSB'ers that wouldn't mind me throwing a cooler in their truck? And possibly a gas can? Those are things I can't easily transport in a backpack

Shit, my size any anything near it is rented out.

Anybody have any suggestions?

edit: It's my damn fault. When I was reading the suit rental policy I interpreted it as you can reserve it only inside of the 2 week mark, not any time up until then. Ah fuck me, im SOL.

You still have time to find one to borrow. Post up what size you might need and maybe someone will have a spare suit to lend out.

Never worn a full suit, but I was guess around 46.

I can't remember what size my 2 piece suit is but if it fits you are welcome to use it....it's a little old and a bit ragged and I still use it every weekend on the street so it has it's own aroma though.

I was considering buying one, but I was gonna wait till I found out just how much I like it before I sink too much money. So yes, it's possible that I'll be interested that day, but Im gonna try and secure a rental before I get there.

Marcus, what kind is it? I know someone else also looking for a blue 46 ... if Trinotrogen passes on it?

Its a blue/black/white Joe Rocket Yamaha Edition. There is some rash on the right side but all the stitching is in tact.

Don't hold onto it on my account, if you secure a buyer before I decide so be it.

I think that's what my bud wants ... rash is not a biggie. But not sure on size now. He says he needs a 46, but he's way smaller than you. I'll find out for sure though.

Good deal.. check on it though, he is probably right on the size he needs. Im getting rid of it because it was too small on me. Kelly got me a custom suit
