Harley mechanic around Elgin?

Anybody know any Harley mechanics around the Elgin area? I'm having a hard getting my 89 Sportster to go into 1st gear. The shifter moves but it doesn't go into gear.

Will it go into any gear? Have you checked the cable and/or clutch adjustment? Primary chain?

Should not be too hard to find an indy HD wrench or one off of the clock, I'd do that before I took my bike to a dealership.

Can you get it into 2nd gear?

This could be as simple as the linkage adjustment (like the collar is rotating on the spline) or it could be the trans.

Ill throw this out there:

My brother is a certified Harley mechanic and worked at a local dealership for a number of years. He decided to switch careers and is now a manufacturing technician. We have been doing side work out of the garage for about two months now and it seems to be pretty busy (harley wise).

Never threw it up on here, cause there are lots of people on the site that do this type of stuff already, but maybe we could at least look at it if you don't get it solved yourself.

Free estimates by phone for simple owner known issues, for items that will require troubleshooting (unknown problem to owner) you just gotta get out to Oswego, or pay for the trailer transportation to and from (.55 cents a mile)

He pretty much has the tools to do anything except a Dyno to do CUSTOM tuning, of the FI bikes.

Example of pricing: Screamin Eagle stage 2 kit for a Sportster - install Dealer = approx. $300 + Tax (labor only) our pricing - $200.

Of course pricing is on a case by case basis, as even in this example, there may be other factors like the kind of pipe (slip-on vs. complete, etc.) But you get the idea.

Pm me with your Q's
