One less sportbiker around the forum...

And one new Harley Cruiser!

I traded in my Honda last weekend for a new (to me) cruiser. After putting roughly 1050 miles on my sportbike last season I realized that even with a Corbin seat and little comfort details, my bike still wasn't comfortable for the type of riding that I found myself doing on a more regular basis. After a trip to the IMS show this year and sitting on a couple Harleys, I figured out that this might be a lot more pleasurable way to ride. After doing some searching online, I found what I found was a great option for me. Apparently this guy had this Road King and put a few thousand worth of accessories on while he had it in storage at the dealership this winter and his wife didn't like the way the tour pack option looked on the bike so he decided to trade it in for a brand new dresser. Worked out quite well for me! Here's the stats on what I found...

1999 Harley Davidson Road King Classic
Cobalt Blue
9500 miles
Reinhardt exhaust
Upgraded intake dyno tuned to 71hp
Lots of chrome bits (floor boards, highway pegs, controls, LED mirrors, heated grips, etc.)

The pictures don't really do the color any justice (almost a purple, but much more vibrant than what's shown), but here's a few shots from out front of the house...

Good things man, you'll enjoy. You do realize though that a rain suit and some big saddle time are now in order right?

So far it's been great! I think I've done like 250 miles in the last week or so on it, most of that being below 40 degrees. I've been trying with the floorboards too, but still haven't dragged any hard parts yet. Guess that's just proof I didn't need a sportbike!

That's the plan for sure. I'm looking forward to spending some seat time riding more in my comfort zone and relaxing/enjoying the ride.

Thanks! I lucked out that the bike already had most of the stuff I wanted to do to the bike already done.

I've spent too much time with my ass hurting from riding around on the RR that took the fun out of riding for me and I wanted to go with something that's enjoyable to cruise around on. I'm sure the speed bug will bite me every once in a while, but I never rode my bike that hard and/or fast anyways so I don't know how much I'll really miss it. I never got around to doing a track day, and only made the mistake of making an LSD run once or twice so I don't have the same addiction as others.

No, it's from Zylstra HD in St. Charles. I sent some messages back and forth with Marr trying to find out she had available but ended up stumbling across this one. Thanks again to Marr for all her hard work looking around for me!

I have some plans for it, mostly including the windshield and bars at this point, but out of curiosity, what would you do?

#1 I would get rid of the floorboards. And probably the luggage rack over the rear fender.

I would need to ride it to comment on the bars and their comfort, but i've only got average reach/length arms so YMMV. If I had that bike I would probably leave the windshield. Or cut it down by 1/3. Of course, I don't know how easy it is to remove. The windshield on my buddy's v-star just snapped on and off in about 10 seconds. Was a nice setup.

havev fun with it.

Thats kinda funny as she just told me they took a 1000RR in on a trade the other day. It was yellow though.

The bars I was thinking of going to would be more for the low cruiser look instead of only for function. Here's what I had in mind...

I went to Conrad's HD yesterday. I had a scratch off, didn't win shit. I have a 20% coupon that has to be used by the 26th. If you want it I'll give you my addy to pick it up. I kicked a few tires, and fell in love with this, the 48.
