I have a new beotch in the stable...............

Its a 2003 Road King with the stage 2 Big bore engine kit which consist of the Screaming Eagle heads, cams, exhaust and other stuff. It also has the front end crome kit on the forks and lights. The bike only has 1560 miles on it and has never seen rain. The guy I bought it off of had it stored in a private garage with other Harleys and corvettes.

I was searching craigslist for a while now using searchtempest.com and I looked at over 1000 ads. Even tried to get help from Marr at her shop but that was a dead end since the prices I got from her where the same ones any walk in customer would get. Also I bought this bike for what one at her shop with 20K miles on it would cost.

Found a guy in Ohio that was unloading this gem and I talked to him for about 20 min about the bike. I was bought and built at Ukes beofre he even picked it up. The bike has never seen rain and has been kept up on a jack stand and heated garage all the time. My main concern was if this thing has been sitting and not ridden am I going to have issues. The owner assured me the bike was good as new as he put about 500 mile on it last year and it runs like a top. The guy has a kick ass garage that looked like an old Texaco gas station. Filled with harleys and corvettes. This place was in the middle of nowhere with a poplulation of 2000 so he was a good old boy and a super nice guy.

When I talked to him on the phone I asked him if he was negotiable on the price lol. He hesitated and said possibly. So I knew I was going to offer about $1000 less than he was asking. But here was teh issue. When I showed up the bike was in such perfect condition I actually felt bad asking $1000 less than what he was asking. I mean this bike is as clean as a NEW bike with all the goodies. I was already getting a hell of a deal as it was so I ask him if he would take $500 less than his asking price. I felt bad actually doing it. He said mumbleing to himself and I knew he wasn't going to take it. So I said you know what how about $100 under ur price. I had to at least feel like I did my best trying to haggle with the guy. He accepted and we laughed after I told him that I felt bad asking for a better price that this bike is worth so much more.

Also when I was texting him Monday night about the bike I told him to expect me about 8pm. His response was "I will have a cold beer waiting for you" It was a win win situation. :-)

Back in the day I never thought I would buy a Harley but seeing that I have rode a couple the last 5 or 6 years they are growing on me and I think I found a great bike for a great price. If this was being sold at a dealer I would be paying about 5k more than I did.

Clean bike. Congrats!

Serious question: You going to ride with a helmet? Full Face? Always curious - and seen it go both ways. Not judging as I have ridden both ways with rentals in the past and didn't really mind it either way.

Dude this quite possibly was the best deal I have gotten on a bike yet. The Ducati is a close second. I already am planning a couple of road trips. First one is Presidents day weekend. Gonna trailer down somewhere south to get into some warm weather. I am loading up the trailer and me and the GF are going to drive south until the weather is warm then get a room and start riding. If its warm in springfield I will be a happy man but if we have to drive as far south at Atlanta that weekend to get warm weather then so be it. Me and her have 3 days off so we have time.

Funny you say that. Each time I have road a Harley it has been without a helmet. I don't know if its just a mental thing but I have a hard time wearing one when I am cruising at Harley sppeds. Trust me I am a gear NAZI and I wear my helmet anytime a swing a leg over a bike but I am not 100% sure patrick. I know I will be wearing one if its cold but a warm summer day I cannot see myself wearing one and wearing one of those soup bowl helmets is a waste I think. I honestly cannot answer on way or the other so we will wait and see.

Will you even be at the track or have you retired? I'll get you a little step ladder so you can get your old bones over whatever bike you plan to ride. Do you want to buy a lightly used 2000 R6?
