Tapatalk App support will be discontinued

Hello Everyone,

Moving forward, Tapatalk will no longer be available on chicagolandsportbikes.com. Motorcycle.com has made available for your download the Motorcycle.com App, available to Apple and Android Phones and Tablets. It’s available as a free or paid version. You can find it by searching “Motorcycle.com” in the app store or by clicking here: www.motorcycle.com/mobile/

The functionality of the free vs. paid app is the same; however, the major difference between the two is the presence of the advertisements, or absence thereof, respectively.

For users who access the forum using a mobile browser, you will not be prompted to download the app every time you access the forum. The prompt is cookie-based and will only happen once every 30 days, unless you delete all the cookies off your mobile device or use the browser’s incognito mode.

I have to ask... WHY?

Tapatalk is FREE and has NO advertisements, but you want us to switch to an app where we have to pay to not have advertisements?

This site is dying. Someone quick do whatever we can to put it out of its misery as fast as possible. Is your goal euthanasia for your website?
As it stands this was a bad investment, and now you're going to go "new coke" with it eh?

I wouldn't do this. Even people who don't view advertisements add content and view content which is viewed by users on computers and via your mobile app. You have low engagement and you're about to slash your engagement opportunities. Nice

That said by all means go ahead and do this, you might as well shut the site down while you're at it.

Never used Tappa whatever, but unless it inserts pictures of hot naked women into the threads I don't see why it's any better than just logging in like normal. I think browser apps are stupid in general though - so perhaps I'm just olde fashioned.

When I log in - all I have to deal with is the header and footer ads which I generally ignore, or marvel at how google keeps track of my browsing habits. Pretty much the same look and feel for me as it was 10 years ago. (content notwithstanding)

Your mileage may vary. Personally I wouldn't pay for a browser app for anything (unless it did the hot naked chick insert I suppose - then I might consider it)

Based on the amount of twisted panties in this thread so far - I must be missing something.

If it did the naked chick thing - I would have heard about it by now. I try to keep pretty close tabs on that side of the industry!

They are working on it but the technology hasn't quite been perfected yet.

Verticalscope is doing this on all their sites. They've done it to StromTrooper as well.

I see it as a way to make ad revenue, since a lot of folks used to use tapatalk, and they figure that most of us are too cheap to actually pay for an app.

My guess is that the new app also has tracking code in it, that provides data that can be sold for profit, even on paid app purchases, thus providing profit even if you don't see the ads.

Absolutely agree 100%. My point is while most forums are doing worse than they were years ago (we saw this with the BBS scene 20 years ago) clsb is circling the drain

Many forums are more active than this place for a number of reasons, not the least of which is many were pissed off about the sale of "their" site to some outside company. Doing this is just one more case if kicking the site while it is down. If they don't want to destroy whatever meager investment they are hoping for a return on they shouldn't do this. If they don't care then by all means do it. It won't directly affect me. I have for the most part moved on and it won't take much of a push for me to leave altogether and I get the feeling that sentiment is pretty common around here.

There is no incentive to come on here anymore, we no longer receive handskis from the ownership.
