Honda Shadow 1100?

Any thoughts/opinions on this bike? Im really torn on deciding what cruiser I want. I'd love a new Road King, but its $$$ and I want a bike I would ride all the time...not just on sunny days. I want something nice, but not too nice where Im afraid to leave parked somewhere. You know what I mean? SOmething that will still be fun to ride, but not worried about getting beat up. SOmething I can cruise around town on and do some medium range touring on. I turned down my neighbor's Magna 750 because I really wanted a V-Twin. So now Im thinking a Shadow 1100 for the rigth price could be the way to go with the VTX's being the hot Honda right now.

I would think I should be able to pick up a 2 year old 1100 with a few thousand miles for $4-5,000...and if I like the cruiser scene, and want to try a HD, sell it for a little less, and step up to the HD.

Is the Shadow 1100 too heavy, underpowered, etc? Or would this be a good stepping stone into the cruiser world.

Here's a pic....

Its a fine bike, nothing wrong with it at all. My nieghbor has a 02 dark red 100 for sale with low miles, backrest, saddlebags for around 6500.00 if I remeber correct. the 4 or 5 grand mark for a 2 year old on is going to be hard to find.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

My father in law has that bike and I ride it all the time with my wife. I love it. When he goes to sell it I plan on picking it up. Wait till the end of the season (September, October). You should have no problem picking one up in the price rage your looking.

Nice looking bike. I was looking at those the other day. I kinda like the Suzuki Boulevard, too. Check those out.

Tony's right, you'll be hard pressed to find a 00+ for less than $5500.....mid 90's can be had for around 4-5k.
