79 Sportster Carb Rebuild Kit

Any of you harley guys know where you can get a 79 sportster XLH 1000 Carb rebuild kit, I'm trying to fix my dads bike. Any help would be appreciated. Right now My ninja and his Harley are keeping each other company going nowhere but the garage.

Try JP Cycles. They have a web site. I think the 79's had stock Kehin carbs if I remember correctly. Check to make sure if it still has a stock carb though. A lot of owners changed over to S&S carbs. Good luck.

I'm about 99% positive it's the stock kehin, It's exactly like the diagram I pulled up for OEM carb parts on bikebandit. I'll check out JP cycles. Thanks

Also try local Harley dealer. I rebuilt an 81 Sporty carb for my neighbor, the local dealer had 6 in stock.

What they all said. IL Harley had parts for my 78 in stock the carb has not changed much if at all in 30 years.

I found a pretty decent one reasonably priced at JP Cycles. Thanks for the help.
