My dad got hit on his Harley.

First off he's okay, just really bruised up. Here's what happened. Monday he was westbound on 64 in St. Charles stopped AT A STOPLIGHT with other cars around. He said he heard tires screeching behind him and WHAM a dumbass bitch in a minivan slammed right into him from behind. She hit him so hard that the sissy bar on the back seat slammed into the small of his back and left a huge bruise. He went flying off to the right and the bike went forward 50 some feet. He said he crawled on his stomach onto the sidewalk to avoid being run over by traffic and layed there for a few minutes before the cops and ambulance arrived. He was discharged a few hours later from the hospital.

He was wearing a helmet, jacket, boots, and gloves and didn't get any broken bones, cuts, or roadrash, thankfully. The bike is most likely totalled. I've got to go up to St. Charles to get pictures. It was an awesome bike. 2003 Black HD Dyna Low Rider with tons of extra chrome. Such a shame.

The bitch got a ticket but get this, she told the police that she didn't see my dad because the sun was in her eyes. They were facing west in the morning. I bet she was on her f*cking cell phone, the c*nt.

Anyway, my step-mom probably won't let him get another bike so my mission is to try to talk her into letting him buy another one.

Yeah he's got a lawyer and will get every penny he can from her. That's a good question about the phone records but I don't know if it is necessary. She's already admitted total fault to both insurance companies.

Well, that's SOMETHING!

I think there should be some kind of 'community service' for these situations... have the offender go out and do public speaking on the consequences of inattentive driving.

Sounds like a sweet bike, and major props to him for being one of the only guys on a Harley in Chicagoland that is properly dressed (ok... Tony and Kruz too...)

Good he is okay. I hope your father's lawyer drains her so dry she won't be able to afford to drive for at least a year. I'm sick of these terrible drivers around chicagoland, they are playing with people's lives with their terrible driving tactics. I hope they get her for lying too, to prove the character of this chick, like Chills said there would be no sun in the west in the morning.

SHIT!!!

You're right Chris! What a c-word!

How many of us find ourselves starting a ride going west on 64 through St. Charles?

I'm especially scared of vans and minivans. They seem to have the most distracted drivers (soccer van -- moms on cell phones).

Very glad to hear it was not worse than it was.. but definitely be on the lookout for loss of mobility in the coming week, and don't just let him fluff it off.. seek attention on it because of how the spine and neck must have bent when he was impacted.

Everyone Exaggerates

We're being taken for a ride... agaaaaaaain.....
