Looking for a Harley

I have a buddy at work who is dead set on getting a used Harley (preferably a sportster). His budget is $5,000 so if anyone has any leads on something shoot me a PM. Obviously we are looking at CL, but we are just wondering if there is a "CLSB connection"

I know of a guy selling a Sportster 1200 but I think his price was a little north of 5K. I'll have him relist it on CL and send you the link.

I bought (negotiated and handed over funds for) a 2004 Sportster 1200 with 1k miles on it last year for a friend, he paid $4200, that was in July. Craigslist is your friend, keep an eye peeled and you'll find something.

If he's absolutely set on a Sportster I'd suggest doing a tour of the dealers. Sales are down and they are probably overstocked with Sportster trade ins that they are willing to deal on to get them moved. The guys at Illinois are good to deal with. The Glenview location of Chicago HD had alot of used bikes on he floor the last time I was in there. Villa Park on North Avenue across from Strats has been pretty good to a friend and Zystra's on North and Randall has also been easy to deal with for some friends.
The down side of a dealer is you will probably pay a tad more but the upside is selection and a bit of peace of mind if you can get a warrantee contract and establish a relationship with a dealer for service and future purchases. They have financing options too.

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!

If you want to anger a conservative, tell him a lie. To anger a liberal all one must do is tell the truth!

I emailed a friend that works on Harleys. Sometimes he has good leads on bikes. I'll post up if they have anything.

Damn! My brother in law just sold one this weekend. 6000 miles, screamin eagle engine, saddlebags + windscreen $4400.00.

So your buddy is looking for expansive vibrator. j/k

Why HD? I got my Warrior for 5600$ and outperforms any HD (maybe besides V-rod) in any kind of way, plus looks better.
Just a smart ass comment.

LOL I don't know why, I think it is mostly the "cool factor". I tried to show him some cruisers from HonYamSuzKawi, but he wasn't interested. He took the MSF course in the Fall and has been itching to ride ever since. Anyway its not my money so he can do what he wants :-D

You got a good deal mang. I'd go the Warrior route over any HD anyday of the week, not a good starter bike though.
