President's Executive Orders

Think we still live in a Democracy? Or rather, a Republic? The list is way to long to copy and paste. But here's a list of how many each Prez signed while in office.

128 - Barack Obama (D) (2009-2012)
291 - George W. Bush (R) (2001-2009)
363 - Bill Clinton (D) (1993-2001)
165 - George H W Bush (R) (1989-1993)
380 - Ronald Reagan (R) (1981-1989)

The the most amazing one. FDR...holy shit homeboy.

3,728 - President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a total of 3,728 Executive Orders throughout his administration which was in power from 1933 to 1945. FDR issued 573 Executive Orders in 1933 alone.

This list is current to June 14, 2012.

I'm confused. Since Presidents have been issuing executive orders since the 1700s why do you think it was necessary to bring this up like there is a change and our Republic is being threatened?

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

So is your beef with the power to issue Executive Orders?

I'm confused.

And Executive Orders can be overruled by Congressional Action. Clinton's EO allowing gays to serve in the military was overridden by what became Don't Ask, Don't Tell. I'm sure there are other cases where EO's have been overruled by Congress, but that's the first one that popped into my head.

Really anything before the early 1900's was for minor issues. More "modern" EO's have pushed more and more power into the executive branch. President's are getting more and more powerful with each order and in the latest one it's about covering up someone's fuck up within an administration.

I realize I'm not pointing out anything new. I just thought it was an interesting website that listed all these orders and who ordered them. I'm not saying one prez is worse than another and it sure as shit has nothing to do with Fox boobs.

Anyone that doesn't think this is/will be a big deal doesn't understand Executive Orders.

Remember, Nixon didn't get in trouble because he did anything...he got nailed for trying to cover it up.
