Obama on tv talking about healthcare

It's bad if children who are sick are dropped from healthcare, but its okay if you have good healthcare and get dropped because of my socialist healthcare.

So what does it really mean to Corp America Joe...........coverage stays the same but premiums go up so they Gov't can fund lazy people who do not think they need to work for insurance?

Serious in my question as I really have not paid much attention to it

I just did my healthcare selection for work today. Single, no dependents, non-smoker.......my premium went up $1 a pay period (around 6%).

If you're a smoker.... up $30 a pay period (or $0 if you sign up for the smoking cessation program).

No change in coverage, prescription plan, deductible, co-pays, nothing, when compared to last year.

It is possible you lose your doctor or hospital that you have been going to for the last 20 years. Your job's medical should be mailing you all these papers that talk about the changes.

That might be what YOU are paying, not your EMPLOYER. I can tell you as a person owning a 13 year old business that employes 8 people, that every year no matter what my prices go up 7%-12%. I don't have to renew for another 5 months, but the rumors from other business owners is 20-25%.

How does that effect "Joe Corporate?" You are isolated somewhat in a large company. However, regardless of company size, a 20% increase in healthcare expenses is going to effect profitability and catch up with everybody eventually. This might mean less opportunities, less jobs, plans with higher deductibles and higher copays, less raises, blah blah blah. Keep in mind this is just the start. NO GOVERNMENT PROGRAM EVER GETS LESS COSTLY OR SMALLER.

Yes, that was my premium increase. My employers cost increase for my policy this year?....... $0 (I think my death benefits cost went up $23 this year.....but I did get a raise).

You're hearing rumors, I'm giving hard data.

There will not be a magic 20% increase across the board this year for health care. Yes, every year it will increase (as it HAS BEEN). Some people will see a larger hit this year due to the requirement for certain coverage......others like myself won't see much at all because our companies chose to transition over several years in anticipation and to take advantage of new parts of the law.

just got our renewal yesterday...if we decide to kick the can down the road and renew with our current plant, 19.8% increase. if we opted for a 1/1/14 renewal with the "wonderful" government imposed plan, 58% increase across the board, with individual policies hitting 120% increase.

The whole program is a goat schtup and should have never been touched in the 1st place

since liberals love al jazerra as a source ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Al Jazeera finds an Obamacare navigator in Colorado who hasn't signed up anybody for the new program because it's too expensive: ,,,, "So far, no one," says the Obamacare navigator. "Thus far everybody has taken a look at the rates and they've walked out the door. There's sticker shock. They just can't afford it."

my company just offered us a quick re-up before the true effects are felt. All plans went up 10-15% but had we waited till January 1 or May (our next "re-up") it would have gone up 30-40%. I'm at a small company so my employer pays 85% but pays nothing for any dependents, spouse etc. That's where I could get screwed. However, larger companies are apparently figuring out it's cheaper to pay the fine then give their employees healthcare. So they drop their coverage, give them a "raise" and send them out into the healthcare abyss that apparently isn't even working. And this might work for some right now, but what happens to the guy that gets hired in 1-2 years and his salary isn't bumped for the healthcare costs?

My understanding is that the premiums aren't tax deductible like they are now. Does anyone know if this is correct? So on top of paying 100% of your premiums (or get fined), the premiums you pay aren't pre-tax.

Also, the coverage available through the exchange might seem "reasonable" until you look at your deductible. $3250-$6k. The HSA plans are $6k for a single and $12,700 for a family!

if the rules for medical deductions stay true, anything over 7.5% of your AGI is deductible

Your portion of premium payment that comes out of your paycheck is still pre-tax.....

But........the portion your employer pays, is now taxable income. (A taxed benefit)

it will have a seperate entry for the equivelent dollars paid on your W2 come tax time. Bend over.

thats for medical expenses.....premium you paid plus all duductibles and expenses you pay throughout the year must be 7.5% or more.

But they ding you in another way since your AGI will go up since the employer portion of the premium payment will now be "income"....effectively raising the expenditure you have to experience to get to the 7.5% level.

Sneaky bastards.

It should be of no surprise to anybody, especially Chicagoans, that a "Rahm" was involved in this.

You know the first thing the gov. should have done was start where the problem is and that is with the hospitals. every hospital charges what ever they want for procedure. example lets says a ct scan. hospital a charge 500 grand while hospital b charges 3500 and so on. they need to regulate the prices across the board with them first.

oxygen cost next to nothing to refill lets say 500 a tank how many patients were on that same tank and billed 350 a pop ALOT far more then what the hospital pays.

Simple problem is regulate the fucking greed in this country first

oxygen cost next to nothing to refill lets say 500 a tank how many patients were on that same tank and billed 350 a pop ALOT far more then what the hospital pays.

Simple problem is regulate the fucking greed in this country first
yep greedy providers and drug companies that are in bed

im on a medication that is very expensive. it was coming close to being on the market as generic. so what does the drug company do? they take the pills right? the exact same pill, and put it inside a plastic capsule. you can fucking open the fucking capsule and see the exact same pill you were taking before right in it. they call it by a new name and extend the rights they have on the drug for another decade or whatever the fuck!

tell me thats not greed to a sick degree... but of course companies are going to try to maximize thier profits. its the fucking gov that lets them get away with something so absurd that is truly sickening

"Why are all these people here? There are too many people on this earth. We need a new plague…"

"Thats it, nobody gets out of here alive."
