Exciting news for me!!!!

So guys in 15 more days I get married (16th).... however thats not the big news! I'm getting my Ducati!!!!! LOL! LOL!

Super excited. Back story.

Had a 2005 Vino 125cc to get my feet wet.
2009 rolls around I pick up a Ninja 250R to "Learn"

Tomorrow my bike FINALLY came in and is being assembled. I waited a little longer because I wanted a Red M696 ABS.

When I went for the 250 I was going to purchase the 696 and finance it but due to having no credit history I was not able to do that so I "Settled" for the 250R and paid in full.

Now I am going to be purchasing the 696 in full too. Now I do have good credit, it just sucks you have to get rapped on APR's to "Build credit" I guess that's just the way it goes. Moving on...

I really love the Monster series I think they are amazing for city riding which is what I do. I thought about the whole 848 evo but the bike is too tall for me. I'm 5'7 185 athletic build. I can't flat foot. It's not worth looking sexy if I'm going to be uncomfortable.

I test rode the 796 which has 7 hp & tq increase over the 696. I honestly didn't feel the power difference. Also the 796 has a nicer wheel and single sided swing arm. 180 rear tire opposed to a 160 that the M696 has. The 796 fits me pretty well and I can flat foot. Now before people say "You don't need to flat foot it's for noobs" call me a noob but I feel comfortable. The 796 requires me to stretch my legs forward to flat foot it. I could purchase the low seat.

The M696 fits me like a absolute glove. The tq is enormous for me and is absolutely more than enough for comfortable city riding. The exhaust note is fantastic. I don't want a bike that I have to wind up like my Ninja. My cousin's GSXR 600 is brutally fast (FOR ME)

The 796 really really upset me. I say this with the upmost sincerity. Here is why... THE CLUTCH! it is not progressive like every other bike I've ridden. There is no feel to it until the last .5 inch of take up. I stalled the bike out two times. I got honked at, I felt foolish. I couldn't accelerate smoothly with it from first gear. I really wanted to buy this bike really I did, but I'm not going to settle. The owner of the shop is friends with my friend. He told me the 696 was his favorite bike and told me to get that w/o regret. The 696 is just the right bike for me. The brembo's feel great and the suspension is so much better than my ninja's. I'm not knocking the 250R it's a fantastic beginner bike and everything about the bike is "ENOUGH" I just don't like shifting at 8-9k rpm's. I've waited a long time for this day to come. Reason I am getting it before marriage is because

1. family will be pissed about me getting it saying stuff like "this is what he did with the envolope money"

2. if i buy a bigger house and have kids there goes my money.

I really feel like the time to buy is right now. I also don't want a 2013 model due to superstition.

If the world the world comes to an end I'll at least have my bike this year! LOL.

I will post up pictures sometime this weekend.

Coke is a great way to jump the game! (misread what you posted on my phone)

I am excited about the whole wedding too, as silly as that sounds. Can't wait for it so I can get it over with, but should be an exciting night.

Buddy never apologize for the size of your bike.
Pick the one you want and ride it.

I could buy any bike I please . I ride the old 250cc bike to the store because that's the bike of 14 that I choose.

Congrats on the new ride (and the wedding). Just like everyone else said, get what you like. I've ridden for 35+ years on all kinds of bikes and sizes and now I ride a little drz 400 and love it.

My future wifey has the camera with her, I'll try and post up higher quality pics later. Those where off my phone.

The power is so amazing. I'm having a blast with it and I haven't even rev'd it past 6K RPMS! Are you kidding me!? Dream come true it really is. I love giving it a little throttle and rolling off to hear the snarling.

That's awesome that you have a great wifey who will continue to let you ride after you're married. Sad to say I've had many friends who've gotten hitched and wifey made them sell their bike ... the first step in male neutering.

Randal: [to Dante] Would you grow up!
Becky: [to Dante] OK, I'm only telling you this because we're friends, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it's forgivable to go ass-to-mouth.
Randal: [chuckling] Ha! I knew it.

I love the 250. If I were you I'd keep it. It's a great commuter inside the city and honestly makes a great track bike for a smaller frame like yours. It's cheap to maintain, and will handle like on rails once you get the suspension done up. Very good looking Duc btw! Enjoy!
