Cheap place to mount tires?

Does anyone know of a good place to mount and balance tires in the south or west burbs. Last time I took it to willys world in Joliet and cost about 30-35 a tire. Just seeing if someone had a cheaper place if I take in just the tires. Thanks

Ace tire and auto on Harlem. 2 or 3 lights south of Harlem and archer, it's on Harlem across from some auto parts store.

I've mounted a million tires.
I must ask though when something as involved as safely removing a wheel ,mounting a tire and properly remounting the wheel cost only 40 bucks. How much cheaper would you like it to be????

I got a quote online for $0.99 per tire and that's with the tires on the bike. If you can beat it I'll have you do it. I'll be paying cash!

Very true. I figured the $30-35 he mentioned in the first post was off the bike, which even then really is not a bad price.

On the bike, yea its much more work as the wheel has to be removed, and then remounted with chain adjusted, etc. I'd say $45-50, maybe more depending on bike is fair if on the bike. But it depends on the bike of course

BTW I still owe you lunch Gus, maybe this season we'll run into each other (not literally)

He changed one of my tires and did a great job. Rim/tire was still on my bike.

Some people will charge 20 if you already have the rim off the bike.

I always liked it when guys would drive an extra hour each way in traffic to save $5 a wheel.

Hmmmm.....do the math....I think you paid a lot more for that tire change.

Vern is getting a lot of play lately. Wonder if it's also happening outside of the forum.

I find it hilarious how unbelievably important an extra $5 every six months on tire changes becomes when it's your pride and joy and something that can kill you, but dropping $200 at the bar every weekend like it's water is no big deal or spending an extra $50 a week on food a week isn't a big deal either.
