Free Helmets

It's that time of the year again. I usually just give away gear I know I'm not going to use or haven't used in a long while every year when the riding season starts. I'd appreciate it if these go out to somebody that doesn't have a helmet or needs a helmet that is in better condition or fits better. Please don't contact me if you have a ton of helmets and just want some extra ones for the hell of it. Just contact me via PM. You'll probably have to come near me since it's going for free...

The first helmet is a Bell Vortex. I could count the number of times I wore this helmet with one hand so it's in pretty much brand new shape. It's a size Large. There is a GoPro mount on top of it which I leave it up to the person to keep or remove. The visor is brand new since I was using another visor on it. It's SNELL 2010 approved and built in 05/2010 so you have until 2015 before it's considered past it's prime.

Next helmet is a NEXX X30. Honestly I bought this helmet on a whim about 4 years ago since it had a very cool shape. It's got a very narrow fit so I probably wore it less than 10 times. It's a size large and it is a Modular helmet. The tinted visor is broken on one side where it attaches to the modulator, so you can either order a new one from NEXX or just push it up or down manually. Everything else in the helmet works great and the overall condition is very good.

good to see. some people drop them off of balconies for kicks instead. the rest try to sell them for way more than they should.

The 5 year rule really refers to time on your head, not just time on the shelf, so there is a lot of life left in that first helmet.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

Both helmets spoken for, for now. If anyone falls through or it doesn't fit them right I have some others in line to contact. Thanks for the quick responses fellas.

Unless it's an Arai...after three years of use the stitching is coming apart, rubber pieces have disintegrated, glue holding the padding to the shell has rotted, visor snaps have long been broken off, and side pods have been replaced at least once (I literally had my visor held on by duct tape at the Indy GP two years ago; the helmet had one and a half seasons on my head)...

But I'm not bitter

It is far better to be thought of as a smartass than an dumbass. And as American Humorist Robert Benchley (1889-1945) noted, "no matter how well-intended, any reply to a dumbass question will inevitably appear smartassed". - Bob Hall (creator of the Miata)

I've owned several and never had that issue. You should contact support or go see Bruce Porter at Indy this year.
