I got my catalog in the mail earlier last week and stopped up there to get the drain plug washers also, plus some throttle lube and luber.

Cycle Gear website says they are opening a store in Tinley Park soon (looks to be near the old Bremen town Mall) on 159th near Harlem.

South Suburbs definitely needs more options!!! Yeah.

It's happening! Slated for opening June-ish. I'll post up some details when I receive more info. It's gonna be great to serve more of the riding community in Chicago.

Seriously? We NEVER get anything on the south side...you're going to get absolutely SICK of seeing me there!

When I was young, I dreamt of dying in battle while defending my country, my home or my honor against a horrible foe. After 20 years of riding a motorcycle on the street, I realize the statistical probability is that when I die, it will most likely be under the wheels be a fat woman in a mini-van who's just missed her exit.

Figured I'd go ahead and post this here since I haven't made my 15 post minimum yet to post up a new thread...

Hi all!

Well we're back! Unfortunately we're not a huge poster on what is the only forum in Chicago but with that being said, we're happy to announce we're expanding our presence in the Chicago area! Slated for opening towards the end of June, we're adding a location to Tinley Park, IL! We realize the demand for a motorcycle parts and accessories retailer in the area and with the amount of traffic our Schaumburg location receives, it's only logical that we expand on the South Side.

For those of you that don't know us, I'll give you a little rundown. We are Cycle Gear: The nation's largest motorcycle parts, accessory, and apparel retailer. We've been around since 1974 with 98 locations. Our focus is our brick and mortar locations, but we are multi-channel with cyclegear.com. Customer Service is the name of our game. You may be thinking what makes us different from anyone else when it comes to customer service? Our core values do... We offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, Best Price Guarantee, and our 7 Day Helmet Exchange Policy. We not only offer these policies for our customers... we live by them.

So, back to Tinley Park!
Physical Address: 6905 W 159th St, Tinley Park, IL 60477.
Phone #: Non Existent at the moment
Tentative Opening Date: Soft Opening 6/20 with Grand Opening 6/28

Are you interested in working at this brand new location? We're looking for awesome, motivated, motorcycle loving people to fill our open positions! Fill out an application online.

And finally, Facebook! That will be the best source for news and updates on the store, but I will try my best to update you all on here. Unfortunately, I'm not able to post URL's yet so just search Cycle Gear Tinley Park on FB and you should find it no problem.

Thanks so much to you all for making us feel at home in the Chicago area and I hope to see some of you guys out there when we make our trip out there for grand opening. It would be nice to get a ride in, but I don't know that the Duc will fit in a carry-on!

P.S. Come join us Thursday at Peppo's in Tinley (Right next to the store) to see what we're all about and get in on some awesome, free prizes! We'll be there from 5 to 8!

Took a quick ride there today! As usual, the store is nicely crammed with everything that you need & want, and the customer service is nice & friendly. They're located in between Peppo's and Peppe's, and if you ride there, be careful. The turn into the lot is tight off of the entrance from 159th and the cagers may not see you. I was there around 4-4:30 and didn't run into any issues. The store isn't as big as the Schaumburg store, but it's stocked just as nice; there's a good sale on boots, base layer shirts, and stands right now!

Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully you guys can make it out to our grand opening event this weekend. We'll be having Peppo's hook us up with food and Saturday will be our massive giveaway day. Starting at 3:00 we'll be giving away all kinds of goodies with the grand prize being a GoPro HD3 Black Edition. I'll be flying out from our home office out here in California for the event and hope to see you all there!

I rode out there this morning. Thought for sure there'd be at least one other bike there but nope, oh well. Looked as though they were still setting up the store when I visited, but it is full, and they have a decent variety of product types. The store brand stuff they're almost literally giving away. I wish they carried more brands, or at least more products from the name brands they do carry. They've got an impressive helmet wall, but the vast majority are the cheapie store brand helmets. I was looking for a pin lock insert for my Arai, but no dice, so after scoping out the store a bit I picked up an undersuit and was on my way. Friendly staff, located close by, I will be in there a lot.

Thanks for the review! We do have a lot of inventory in our exclusive brands, but check back with us as we're still pumping product into the store. That particular pinlock insert is not something any of our locations generally stock, but typically we can get those ordered and in stock within a few days. Thanks again for stopping by and feel free to drop by if you're in town this Saturday for our Grand Opening celebration.

Can cycle gear mount tires too? Or do they just sell the tires. Some places charge super high rates when u ask them to mount a carry in tire.

You may have used an example of the biggest difference in prices to make a point, plus a lot of places are blowing out Q2s now that the Q3 has been released. The typical shop versus online vendor isn't that big. Not everybody appreciates a local dealer, until they are gone. Motorcycling will definitely grow though with all the dealers gone and you are just left with Vern and Cyclegear. lulz Great for our sport.

Good points. Given everything CP offers, I wouldnt exactly call you a "typical" dealer. That said, there are some dealers that can go away and nobody would blink.

I would actually prefer to buy locally(not just for MC stuff) but you have to admit, when you talk to one dealer in West Chicago, and another in Downers Grove and there's literally a $60. difference in price for the same tire, it kinda rings of price gouging.

Also, STG has the same tire for 106. Despite their online presents, STG is an actually brick and mortar dealer. They're somebodies local dealer. So yeah, I'm all for charity and all, but paying close to $100. more?? MY local dealer can go bye bye.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with price comparisons or shopping around, but the expectation a local guy can always match or beat an online guy is tough with local Chicagoland overhead. And if dealers are expecting consumers to pay THAT much over online prices it just won't happen. Yes my shop is a bit different with much lower overhead compared to the bigger dealers and usually I can meet or beat online prices without much effort. Even though STG has a brick and mortar building (actually all online suppliers do as it is a requirement to become a reseller for the larger distributors and manufacturers) their business model and 99.9% of their revenue is not local.
