Looking for dual purpose recommendation....

Hi all...

Seems like this is the best place to post a dual purpose thread...

Looking to get back on the road with a dual purpose bike.

I'll be solely using it for street use and would like to occasionally take it on the highway as well. Low maintenance intervals is also appealing to me... the less I have to mess with it (aka take to a mechanic), the better.

I was thinking it might be worth the extra cost to buy new. I'm not the most mechanically inclined and don't have a garage to tinker around with it, so I figure spending the extra money up front could save the hassle of repairs/service of a used bike. I'll most likely need to take to a dealer for service, so I'd like to limit that as much as possible.

I've had a Suzuki DR650 in the past and really enjoyed it. From what I've gathered in my search so far, going with a DR650 again or a Honda XR650L look like good options.

Any significant pros/cons between the two? Wouldn't be looking to spend much more on a new bike though... and there aren't that many dual purpose options out there...but other recommendations are welcome as well.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

Both of the bikes mentioned are solid choices , plus they can be motarded with ease . Look on ADVrider for those , should be plenty to choose from . Also consider a KLR or even a DRZ , if you dont need too much highway riding .

You have described the XR650L.

Air cooled with Honda reliability. Make sure it has oil and gas in it and you're riding.
