Variety Riders Egg Hunt in Ottawa

Has anybody participated in the Egg Hunts that the Variety Riders Motorcycle Club puts on it Ottawa?

I'm considering the even on August 3 but can't tell when the racing may actually start. I don't want to show up at 8am to sit around until 2pm. I'm looking to do the +30 class.

Do Intermediate/open/age classes all go at the same time, somewhat combined or all separate? Just trying to get a feel for the event.

Is the event fun and worth attending?

Egg hunts are fun events and designed around family fun as much as anything. You're not really racing in the traditional sense and the rules on how you pick up the "eggs" vary from club to club. At some events you must remain seated on your bike as you pick up the "eggs" in others you must maintain contact like having a foot or hand touching the bike and in others leaving your bike is OK.
I haven't been to one in a long time but, I would say go early and make sure you are there for the riders meeting so you know what rules the event is being run by. The event is also about being social...getting to know other riders and making contact with others who enjoy off road riding. Try it...if you find it doesn't suit your taste we'll see you at the next Hare Scramble or enduro. Good luck.

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!
