KTM 205XC vs 150,200 or 300

So I have this very nicely prepped (ex Ryan Moss) '13 250. I've looked @ the 150 and 200 thinking that I really don't need the power in the woods and could use a lighter more nimble bike. Well the 150/200 weigh only 7#s less so that plan is out. Oddly enough, the 300 weighs the same as my 250...wtf...All 4 of these bikes share the same frame and tank. The 200 and 150 use more gas because they have to be wrung out to keep up with the 250.

In my effort to reduce bikes, I'm thinking of trading up my 250 to a 300 given that they weigh the same and I could use more power on the ice.

Anyone out there willing to trade their recent 300 for a 250? Failing that, I may pick up a used crf450R...damn...not another bike.
BTW my bike has a non offroad title so can be ridden on the street legally.

Does the power produced by the engine create forces that make the 250 seem heavier than the 200/150 option? If I bought a woods bike, I would consider the 200. I would go with the 150 but, it does not have electric start.

yeah the e start is wonderful. No need for rekluse clutch and I find myself not stalling that much anymore as my riding improves.

yes a stronger motor will require slightly more energy but only when you're using it. The power will also get you up hills, out of bogs etc..over tall logs easier. The KTM 300 feels like a frigging tank - essentially unstoppable. Tons of torque.

Again if KTM stopped being cheap and had lighter frames, swingarms and components for smaller bikes, the smaller displacements would make sense. If the 150 or 200 weighed 20# less or more, I'd be all over them...

The KTM site shows the 150 weighting 207 and your 250 weighting 229. The 150 does not have lights or a battery.

The 200 only weighs 7lb less than the 250. None of the bikes come with lights although mine has a dynamo and light wires.

The 200 is only available as the XC-W model and it has lights.

Check out the 300 kit that ktm sells. Ktmworld.com has them listed on their site for about $800.
