Raising funds for the American Cancer Society

A little while ago I decided to run in the 2010 Chicago Rock n' Roll Half Marathon. At first just completing this was the goal as I am not a runner to say the least.

A few weeks ago I found out a former co-worker and friend was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma, and has recently been upgraded to stage 4b. He is currently fighting this and his attitude is amazing. He also started up a Facebook page named, "I'm going to beat cancer." If you haven't seen it you should check it out, its very inspirational.

So then I get an update email from the run sponsors and I saw a link from team DetermiNATION and the American Cancer Society. It got me to thinking of my friend's battle and my dad who died from lung cancer in the fall of 2004. I quickly decided to raise funds.

Now I am definitely no cause-head but this one hits close to home and has become a very motivating factor for me in my training. I know its riding/track season and most expendable income is going to riding right now but every little bit helps.

You can donate from my Facebook page (link on the left side) or from the link below. Thank you and ride safe.

Ran my last long training run today (10 miles) in preparation for half marathon next Sunday. Still one week left to donate if u can! Let's hope next week's weather is like it was today.

Will be out in the city for lunch and drinks after, I'll post up the time and place so come celebrate if u can (I'm getting stoopid drunk).
