Wingit: Let's help a fellow rider and great guy!

As many of you know Joe crashed a little over a week ago and unfortunately had some pretty serious injuries. Broken leg, pelvis and some ribs.

He is now in a rehab place but should be going home in a week or so, things are looking great!! He has to get a ramp for his house and some other misc medical supplies since he will be stuck in a wheelchair for approximately 6 months or so.

Unfortunately his insurance will not cover everything he needs so anything any of you can spare would help him immensly.

If he wants to provide more detailed information he can.

I also told him to let me know if he needs anything done around the house, i.e. grass cut, grocery shopping, cleaning, etc...if you are interested in helping please let me know. He lives in the Joliet area.

I'm sure once he gets better and settled in he'll welcome visitors at home as well. He'll be up and runnin in no time oh and pullin whoolies

If you would like to donate any $$$ to help Joe out please send it via PayPal to [email protected]

Please mark it as a GIFT as well so we can avoid the PayPal fees.

Also please put your real name and board name in the comments section so he knows who to thank!!

Thanks guys!!!

As I've said countless times, our riding community is unbelievable!!

Here is the info of where he is again, so you don't have to go searching around.

Adventist Hinsdale Hospital
120 N Oak St.
Hinsdale, IL

Visiting hours are 4:30 to 11

Don't stay too late, he gets tired. He's doing a lot of PT, all day every day.

Yeah, I talked to Joe about this but he said with the city codes and ordinances it would just be too hard. He found a guy that will come out and set it up for a monthly charge.

Its much more feesable and time effective to get a temp ramp professionally installed.

To those who contacted me about supporting Joe, the best way right now is to send a little spare change his way. Every bit is going to help.

If anyone wants to lead on a ramp building day, I will call off work if need be to lend a hand. I've never build a ramp before but I figure it just like a deck on an angle and I can do that just by accident.

Edit: Man I get distracted and take to long to type msgs. I guess the above is a little irrelevant.

Guys... a ramp can't be built by us. There is no time for permits, etc. It is being installed professionally.

I should be able to help if he needs something done around the house... and I'll throw in a bit towards the fund as well. I remember what some of those medical items cost and it isn't cheap.

How this started was that I received a visit from the social worker. She informed me that I needed a ramp before I would be released home. If I did not get one I would have to be place in care facility. She had no info on what it would cost. Yet she almost expected an immediate answer. Her bedside manner has not been the best. After this conversation my phone had a facebook notification. It was Terra (catwlights) asking how I was doing. I kinda unloaded on her.....

"My spirits are down. They just told me they might not send me home because I need to build a ramp for my house and I don't know if I can afford it. Even though it is temporary, without a ramp it could pose a risk. I literally just found out. I don't even know how to tell Lin. They have a conference on me later so I will find out more later I guess."

And in true motorcycle community fashion she told me we will help you! She contacted Shelly (Evil Twin) and they got the ball rollin'. I am so grateful for this and will never forget their generosity! Thanks to the both of you!

Of course the ramp is just part of the picture. I do work for a company who has short term disability. But it is only a fraction of my normal paycheck. Anyone who knows me knows I am a divorced father of 3. So I have had to hire a lawyer to try and get an emergency drop in child support to the statue percentage of my new disability income. Until that goes through she will be getting more of my check then I will. With that I have my normal monthly bills we all have plus now the extra medical expense. That ranges from Medication that the staff here says may not be covered or is still expensive if it is covered partially to insurance paying for the basic wheelchair but not the one specifically needed to my case.

The pain of the accident (in my opinion) is nothing compared to the uncertainty of your immediate future. The stress from that is overwhelming at times!

Once again I want to say thanks to Terra and Shelly!

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to come visit!

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to call!

Living life! Because before you know it it is over!

Joe

Hey Joe talk to whoever leads the Employees club at work or maybe I can find out who that is for you tomorrow. They will also help out with things. I know firsthand from when I got flooded out of my place years ago they were willing to help with hotel stays and food and clothes.

I just remembered about them. I'm not at work now due to crap, but will find out tomorrow for ya.

Keep ya head up!! Things always work out in the end

Hey Joe,

Most cities and villages require ramps to be 12" long for every 1" rise to comply with the american disability act or ADA. You can buy prefabricated ones if you only have 1 or 2 steps and your front door can accommodate a straight ramp. Cheaper than custom.

so sorry to read about all this. I hope you heal quickly.

Don't let the shit get you down.

Tell the social worker to pound sand. You're not a prisoner there. How can they say where you're going to go? Don't sweat it. It may be against their advice, but you can do what the fuck you want.

Man i love how medical insurance just says nope we aren't paying anymore sorry your on your own whats the point of having it.

BTW a little medical tip for you to use against said staff telling you your not going home if this and that.

They can not hold you if you able to make sound decisions and you can discharge your self any time from the hospital

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

I don't want to make anything more difficult, but this doesn't make sense to me. There's no time for permits? What a professional doesn't have to get a permit but we would?

I just hate to Joe be given more of an expense than he needs. Someone to get paid monthly? Just don't get it.

If I'm barking up the wrong tree, fine. Just tell me to fuck off.

hope it all works out for the best.Like I said, I just don't want Joe to be stuck with another bill if it wasn't really necessary.

hang in there joe, a little bit of paitence and help from the clsb family and friends and it will work out in the end. Count me in for any odd jobs around the house

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

We talked about this immediately as the obvious cost effective solution. After 5 days and several conversations with joe and all others involved it was determined that it wasn't time effective. You not only need permits but approvals of "code"

I'm sorry, I don't mean to second guess your decisions. I just didn't want someone telling you guys something that wasn't necessarily fact and end up costing you more. The last thing I want to do is cause more stress.
