Step Out to Fight Diabetes 10/6/07 Elk Grove Village

Saturday October 6th is this years walk for diabetes at Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village. This is one of the major fund raisers for the American Diabetes Association to aid in the research and development of care for diabetes.

I am walking in this even in efforts to raise money for this great cause. For anyone that may be interested in sponsoring me or even walking in the event following the links on my page.

http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/Ste...nal&fr_id=4668

For those of you that don't know, I am personally effected by this. I was diagnosed in Feb. of this year. It is still unclear what type of diabetes I have but my current treatment involves me having to inject insulin for every meal that I eat. Tis not fun, especially for someone who doesn't like needles, anyway.
I am sure there are some that either are effected by this disease or know someone who is. Way too many people deal with it, some alot better than others, and way too many people are being diagnosed with no cure available. It isn't something that goes away after time, it can be controled and it is different for every single person on what it takes to control it.

If you want to donate but don't want to do so online, seek me out at Strat's I am going to try to be there every week until the walk happens.

almost 2 days this has been here and only viewed 25 times.

Did I mention this is a hereditary disease, but not sure why/how it is passed on.

Step Out to Fight Diabetes is a fund-raising walk, benefiting the ADA's mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Please support me by donating to my campaign.

Need more reasons to give? More than 20 million Americans suffer from diabetes, and another 54 million are at risk for developing diabetes.

There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.

I need to push this some more. This is really a good thing here people.

Ok I'm not hosting a fancy ride like Jen did with the Boobs walk and I tried to push that alot because it was for a great cause.

I'm not asking for alot from anyone, just a little from everyone to make alot.
See my intentions here.

I hope the walk goes well. This cause and charity is something I give to every year. I already have a few people I am sponsoring but highly recommend people consider getting involved in some way. It's definitely a good cause.

Def a good cause. My mom has it and has lost her vision, 1 toe, 1 leg, kidneys shut down, etc.. If I wasnt going out of town to visit my mom that weekend I would be down for the walk.
