rant about supposidly "HARDCORE" rider chicks...

i was having a conversation with some girls about women that ride and such and we got to talking about girls being squids....i of course was the FIRST one to come up on the list of a chick squid... i guess it shouldnt really matter if you're a guy or not, but it seems that so many people THINK women ride because they want to show off... or turn heads.... especially if they dont know a whole lot about riding .... or live and breathe motorcycles.... so it got me thinking...

i guess i never really considered myself a HARDCORE rider - because my riding skills need a lot of improvment -- my ass hurts after two hours of riding and sometimes ENJOY riding as the passenger -- motorcycles is obviously NOT my first priority... but i share an interest and i consider myself somewhat knowledgable about riding from talking to Jay and reading stuff on this board....
when i FIRST started riding i didnt really notice "turning heads"... but when it was brought to my attention, yeah i noticed it, but does it matter? TONS of girls turn heads when they see a dude on a motorcycle... even DUDES turn heads when they see a motorcycle... jay does it all the time when we drive and a bike flys by weather the biker is a guy or a girl....

the chicks i had this conversation with.... well.. they were HARDCORE riders... they even had this special motorcycle talk going that i've never even heard of.... and when they turned on thier bikes, they rev'd it like CRAZY!!!!... they wore thier motorcycle gear everywhere... even when they WEREN'T riding.... whatever fine - people can wear and do what they want, but dont hate because another chick doesnt carry ALL her motorcycle gear in her car.... anyway it was sorta annoying.... like they were trying TOO HARD to fit in -- shouldnt it just sorta be natural - you shouldnt have to TRY SO HARD.... -- i almost felt like they were dudes...

so maybe a squid is what i am -... but uhhh someone with issues is what you are....
ok... my rant is done... if you made it this far... congratulations!!!

Revving their engines and wearing bike gear while not riding? Uh, sounds like some posers to me, I don't care if they're chicks or not.

What is this “special” motorcycle talk?

Revving their engines? Wearing gear when you are not on the bike? IMO, from what you described, they sound like a bunch of posers. All these items people do for show… hey, look at me, I have a bike!!!

Anyway, what is a definition of “hardcore rider” anyway? I think I’m hardcore. I ride more than most people, but yet, I don’t ride to work (which people give me crap about). Basically, my bike is NOT transportation to me. The only time I’m on it, is when I intend on doing some kind of a ride that involves going around some twisty or scenic roads.

What's this motorcycle talk?

Sounds to me they're the ones that want to be noticed. Why would you bring your gear around with you when you don't have your bike ( to be looked at and notice). Oh well to each his own.

Every once in a while I hear the term "Hardcore" to describe a biker. What is "Hardcore"? Is it the way you dress? Is it the way you ride? Is it the kind of bike you have? Is it the way you talk? Is it how much you can drink? No. I don't think it's any of these. I think it's how much motorcycling has become an important part of your life and how much you think about it. Do you lust over MC's? Do you always wish you were riding? Do you dream about it? Would you rather buy a new bike instead of a new car? Do you put off doing other things to ride, etc, etc? Fancy gear is nice, but it doesn't make you "Hardcore".

What's this MC talk you reffered to???

I consider myself hardcore.

And I don't care what other people think I know what I like.

I think its cool that those girls are that avid about it.

And it ain't braggin if you back it up.

motorcycle talk....
i have no idea... it was basically stupid crap... like did you hear about the "shadingzy" or whatever... and i was like... WHAT Is a shadingzy... they were like, YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THAT IS???? OMG!!!!!!!!!!! but of course it's stuff they made up themselves -- supposidly it's new "biker talk".... it was just WEIRD!!!!

hardcore rider?...
MY definition of that according to these chicks i guess it was just thier attitude... they acted like they knew a lot... and thats OKAY but they didnt seem to back it up with much... dont get me wrong, i think it's cool that these girls have a passion for riding... but it all seemed so FAKE......

it seemed a little TOO masculine if you ask me - maybe they were girls... that were into girls... who knows...
blagh.. or maybe i'm just used to seeing GUYS be stupid.... hehe... j/k.... anyway, just thought it was annoying...

Don't worry, Snifflez.

You're a cool squid. Basically, I guess, it's like Tony's statment at the end of his posts. Were pretty much all squids. Even racers that do dangerous stuff on the roads, of which I am quickly backing away from, are squids for doing dangerous stuff in a dangerous place.

Keep riding and laughing at those that don't quite realize how squidly they really are.

Rosie, where was this at? You weren't hangin' at Lake Calhoun were you?
There are some around that are cool , and some that are complete posers. Most are fun to look at, but can barely ride.
Oh well, to each his/her own.

Damit, neal how come you always get here first, I think you have chicago envy. I'm the one that use to live there, I think your the poser!!!!

Anyway, Neal stole my question, was this up here, or down there. And anyway, anyone that isn't open with something they are posionate about and accepting of others with similer interests in my mind is a poser, so who cares. The people I like to associate with are those that enjoy sharing their knolwedge with others, in a non cockey way. Anyway, I'd like to think that anyone that is trully pretty cool and hardcore with bikes would have to know Neal as he is the old dog up here and eats and breaths this stuff. So he don't know em, then they aren't anybody worth knowing.

Well, considering every girl I've ever dated has been INCREDIBLY anti-motorcycle... I think ANY chick that rides is hardcore.

Seriously tho - from what it sounds like, these other biker chicks that you saw/know/whatever, better fit the definition of squid than you do. Figure if they were guys pulling the same act, they'd instantly be coined 'squid' in my book.

I don't think your riding ability is what makes, or doesn't make, you a squid. I think what DOES make you a squid is the attitude. Anybody who has a 'secret biker lingo', or wears their gear everywhere to advertise that they ride, is automatically a squid. Somebody who likes to BRAG that they ride, is a squid.
