R.I.P Johnny Cash :(

Knew it was bad when I get in the car and here 'I walk the line'. The Man in Black (Original O.G,even) died overnight at 71. Umm, can't say I'm surprised given his known health battles as of late (even he knew it was coming.) There's probably a boatload of news links you can click on someplace. Most people know how much I liked his music.

Have any of you guys seen the Johnny Cash Video for his remake of Nine inch Nails "Hurt"??? The video is nothing but clips of past greats in the music industry that he has played with and they are all dead. Very very powerful video. check it out if you can find it.

Actually the 3rd death already happened but it is shadowed by Ritter and Cash's deaths. The third death is some actor from Hogan' Heros. I guess he was the scientist or something from that show with all the gadgets.

Big Johnny Cash Fan

Johnny Cash has written some of the best lyrics I have heard...with dark imagery he was able to exactly capture the raw emotion of life as a man. Go with me here...but I think of him as the first and possibly only writer of "Men's Love Songs", he wrote words that a man could truly identify with and understand as explanations for the unexplainable. I hate it when people like this die.

yeah, it's sad, but even he knew it was coming. Guess it was best for him to go out on top, with a grammy and scores of new fans with his 'hurt' video. As soon as I saw that (months before MTV picked it up), I thought it was one of the greatest songs ever. He also covered 'Bridge over troubled water' with Fiona Apple (i think) that was beautiful. Her large vocal range contrasted with his singing, made for a great song. Also covered personal jesus, desperado, and his song 'Tear stained letter' was really good.

I need to find his album with 'Rusty Cage' from soundgarden. Couldn't find it anywhere. may have to check amazon.

Also, the 1993 U2 Zooropa album has a song called "The Wanderer". Written by Bono for Johnny Cash. Cash sang the vocals for the song. The song's lyrics talk to Johnny's life and how he lived. Probably the best song on the album.
