whats the oppinion on the Kawi ninja 650, specifically the 2006

and maintenance concerns?

First, I was kidding
Second...not really
Third, im biased

Personally I have never heard anything good about kawi reliability...except for the 250 ninjas

SV650 FTW! The Kawi I rode was pretty similar to the SV and is a great riding bike. I like the SV more for the proven reliability and long production run. I haven't heard too much about the Kawi other then the first impressions from riding it, though.

If it's a steal, it might be a good upgrade, if not, maybe an SV.

Then again I'm a Zuki rider

Ride smart... stupid hurts.

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't...

Godspeed 788!!! We miss you!

yea so am i and i pushed for the sv but the looks of the ninja won,

its listed at 4500 (nutty) kbb prices it at 4000 retail
and has some cosmetic blemishes and Im 95% sure its seen some track time since there was some ductape residue on the speedo and the front tire has rubber debris stuck to it like mine gets, as well the rearset heel plated have the same scuffing/scratching as mines gotten from the screw that holds the heel guard on my sidis

Ninja is a nice looking bike. Price is way high, though, like you said.

i know a lot of people that seem to like their kawi reliability. I don't do shit to mine except change the oil and it's fine for me (so far) with like 18k miles. Needs a clutch cable but I leave it outside in the summer and ride in the rain, so no surprise there.

I'd go SV650 if I were looking at a Ninja 650. I view the Ninja as comparable to a GS500f in terms of sportiness, a decent standard but nothing special especially as a sportbike. If they're thinking sportbike, I think this misses the mark compared to an FZ6 or SV.

How do you know all the miles on it are not track miles??? If it has scratches all over it and duct tape residue and other track riding signs than there is no way I would pay $3500 for a Kawi 650. Thats what I would expect to pay at a dealer. I would offer them $2900 tops.

its at a dealer actually, dgy to be specific
http://www.dgy.com/new_vehicle_detai...74&pov=1414846

theres no way i know if its not all track milage, its at 3600 miles though
the brake discs didnt look exceptionally worn and the tires werent the type normally used by track riders... the rubber pickup is only on the front tire.

the scratches I speak of are light and minor, from boot screws and the misc other little shit that bikes are magnets for.

i might head down to dgy after work today adn look at it again theres a few things i want to see in more detail, thanks for the input steve, definately gonna look a lot more critically at it now

I think its over priced. My little brother almost go screwed on an overpriced bike over there last weekend. Needless to say Marr hooked him up wait a bike 4 years newer with less than half the miles and more add ons for only $400 more. I just delivered him the bike yesterday as its his first bike and he doesn't have his license yet.

ill be advising much caution on this one and a far lower price.

I hear good things about them for a all round street bike. Doesn't Paul have one of those or some variation of one? If so, may want to PM him.

I tried one before I bought my sv. The 650r felt so awkward to me for some reason.

Good memory, Paul has the Versys. IIRC he was quite bored by it.

Then again, that guy has 70 bikes so his attention span is probably quite short anyway.
