Had the midnight show last night at work. I previewed it and it was ok. We had 1 customer come and see it at midnight, 6 for the Bounty Hunter.

I seriously want to stand outside the theater and hand out Repo! info. I hate when people invest time, creative effort and money into a project and then some big studio comes along and steals their ideas. It just sucks that the writers/producers have had to scrape by, and still go on Repo! road tours, and help boost the shadow cast proformences. There is one tonight at the Music Box in Chicago. All they did was take out the music. Sucks!

2 years from now when Repo! the Genetic Opera is still being shadow cast, and still having Midnight showings repo men will be in the $5 bin at Wal-mart. This makes me happy.

yes and Nivek Ogre as well. It's a kick ass movie. Tons of amazing people are in it, and did it for cheap, due to it's coolness. Paul Sorvino, Sarah Brightman, the list is amazing.

Movie is based on the novel Repossession Mambo, you should get upset at the writer not the studio.

I both agree and disagree about repo men being a ripoff. It has been a big debate in my head for the last 8 months or so. I absolutely LOVE Repo the Genetic opera. But this takes a completely different story line. It is not Father daughter based like the opera. It is just big bad company versus a hero type story. It just happens to be using a similar base of organ repossession. But coming out so soon after opera came out makes it kinda fishy too. I'll likely go see it because I still like the organ repossession plots.

Repo Men (aka Repossession Mambo)
12/24/09 - Universal Pictures announces a release date for Repo Men. Formerly titled Repossession Mambo, the sci-fi action thriller is directed by Miguel Sapochnik and stars Jude Law and Forest Whitaker. It opens April 2, 2010. In the futuristic action-thriller Repo Men, humans have extended and improved our lives through highly sophisticated and expensive mechanical organs created by a company called The Union. The dark side of these medical breakthroughs is that if you don't pay your bill, The Union sends its highly skilled repo men to take back its property ... with no concern for your comfort or survival. Jude Law plays Remy, one of the best organ repo men in the business. But when he suffers a cardiac failure on the job, he awakens to find himself fitted with the company's top-of-the-line heart-replacement...as well as a hefty debt. But a side effect of the procedure is that his heart's no longer in the job. When he can't make the payments, The Union sends its toughest enforcer, Remy's former partner Jake, to track him down.

10/7/08 - SCIFI Wire reported that Alice Braga co-stars with Jude Law in the SF thriller Repossession Mambo. The movie, from first-time director Miguel Sapochnik, also features Forest Whitaker, Carice van Houten, The RZA and Liev Schreiber. "It's really interesting," Braga said. "It's a crazy story in a way, supposing that there's an industry of artificial organs. So it's kind of a crazy movie." Repossession Mambo takes place in the not-too-distant future, when people can buy artificial organs using credit. Pity those who fall behind on their payments, as someone may come calling to get the organs back. Law plays Remy, a repo man whose body is filled with artificial organs ... and who must go on the run when he can no longer pay the bills. "I play a character [who's] ... a young girl with dreams and life ahead of her, and then suddenly everything changes," Braga said. "And then her whole body changes. It's really hard to talk about her, because if I say something about it, it [reveals too much about] the journey of the character." There's no release date yet for the movie.

11/28/07 - Jude Law and Forest Whitaker are set to star in this SF thriller for Universal Pictures. The morality tale is set in the near future, when artificial organs can be bought on credit, with the understanding that defaulting on payment will result in a fatal repossession. It marks the feature-film directing debut of Miguel Sapochnik.

Funny they had already released the names of the actors, before the book was published. The people behind Repo! the Genetic Opera approached several of the major production companies and were turned down. Then after Repo! was already wrapping production Universal started casting for the exact same movie?? I think Universal had someone write a book based on their movie plans.

totally different story. That's about repo'ing cars. Repo! the Genetic Opera is about repo'ing human organs.
