Shit....why cant they actually invest in the roadways like the Germans do? They just repaved 290/53 like 6-7 years ago.

No shit...the Romans built roads that are still in use TODAY, and probably look better than 290. I got my first blow out on a piece of shit rut in the road where chunks of pavement split.

if they built it right the first time, job security goes out the window, and Daly's kickbacks go down

now you westerners can feel the pain I went through while 294/94 was all tore up.

It's great now, back down to a 15 minute commute, vs. an hour or more while construction was going on. Surface streets were not any better during contruction, since so many cagers bailed on the highway

Ever been on a Naperville express train? 11 cars, 120 sitting per car, and then standing room only (and that's hitting only 2 stations). I don't think they can get more crowded.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

You know they can fix the road properly the first time ... they just won't.. Now we have 2 years of that shit to drive thru.

That was definitely some nastiness when I had to drive on it, I swear the cracks in the road were big enough to eat my car!
But this 290 resurface is going to suck- it's pretty much my main thoroughfare into the city, and I haul around a massage table for a lot of that travel so I can't take the train.

This area has just gotten too big (populus) for infrastructure to keep up. I'll take a small town over a big one any day.

I guess for bike night folks that meet up at SOW, perhaps they'll take side roads to Indian Trail, then cut over to 355 to avoid the crap? What awful timing. CIP was so convenient being right off I-355 ... now this.

I take this highway everyday to work, from the loop to 88. Thankfully I start 'hoteling' in April and will only need to commute 1 day a week.

I said do it like the Germans. Hes like, but they don't get the weather like us or have semi trucks.

And i wonder why they don't use the shredded tire mix either. I heard that lasts 30 years without any cracks.
