Driving law question...

So let's say you are in a 2 lane turn lane waiting to turn left. Both lanes turn the same direction. 2 lanes open up into 3 lanes when you turn left. Who has rights to the center lane when you turn? No matter if I am in the right lane or left lane, when I muscle for the center lane upon turning I get some nasty looks and people acting like I did something wrong. Are they pissed because they got schooled or because they actually think I did something wrong?

no one has a right to any lane IMO, if im driving down the same road and i speed ahead of you and pass you, then i get it. You have the right to the area around your car within id say a cars length in front and behind

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

The left left turning lane goes into the left most lane, the right left turning lane goes into the center lane

In real life maybe, but according to the rules, you are not supposed to change lanes within an intersection and should stay in your lane.

Yep. So if you guys are right, nobody has rights to the right lane after you turn then, correct? I'll make sure I line up on the right so I have access to the middle lane and the right lane then. And honk like a mothafucka when somebody from the left lane runs into the middle lane.

My sis made a left turn (w/ single lane) onto a street with 3 lanes. She made the turn into the center lane. Cop pulled her over, asked her out on a date. When she rejected his ass, bastard gave her a ticket. This was 10 years ago in the city. Worst part was, she was visiting my dad in the hospital after his open-heart surgery.

i disagree - the 290 eastbound exit to Mannhiem South has the exact same setup, and they have painted it with the little stripping (i think its worn away now) and the right lane, was indiciated into the right lane, and the left lane into the center lane. That is how I ALWAYS assumed it.

Same thing goes for the westbound wacker entrance to west bound congress (eisenhower) Nobody from the left goes into the left lane, they go into the 2nd lane from the right, out of the 4, not either of the other two...

Nothing yet. It's when I go home turning from 290 on to EOE. All the people in the left lane seem to hug the left lane after turning and all the people in the right lane seem to go into the right lane, leaving the center open usually. My plan of attack in dealing with the 40mph, cellphone talking, makeup applying, BJ giving, slackass drivers out there is to hammer the center lane and pass everybody at mach 5 so I'm at the head of the line. Some people seem to have a problem with this, so I'm just curious where I stand.

It is illegal to change lanes while in an intersection (or within 200 feet I believe).

Actually, I can't find this in the rules of the road. Is this really a law?

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

You are supposed to turn into the nearest/closest lane, so as stated that would mean left turn lane to left lane, right turn lane to middle lane.

Did you know that before leaving the shipping depot, UPS drivers set their route so that they mainly make right turns instead of left. This way they are able to deliver packages faster.

+1. Far right lane is for turnoffs. You must be talking about Randall and 64.

Yes I knew that. Did you also know that the packages are sorted in the truck from front to back according to that route also?

Another example of that is there also, but that right lane ends pretty quick after you turn.

Left turn lane to Left, Right turn lane to Center.

Right from the "Rules of the Road" for Left Hand turns.
