GoPro at Costco for 99 bucks

I haven't checked Chicago yet - but a buddy of mine told me he saw Gopro (non HD ) there for 99 bucks

Did a quick search and there are some forum posts about it as well - so it appears not all Costco have them..

Damn good deal that's about the same cost as the case and a couple mounts

i didn't know it was that cheap - wonder if that's just for the wrist one?
I guess it comes with mounts etc

I didn't see it on the website - it's worth taking a look
I have the HD and to be honest thus far it's been more of a pita than it's worth - the files are HUGE, you can't edit it with less than the pro stuff - and with the pro stuff I see how slow my machine really is (+ I do not need the pro stuff it's ridiculously complicated err "full featured")

For $99 bucks that's not bad. I agree the HD might be overkill since most of these vids people just put on Youtube or watch themselves anyway.

I have the hole in the center of my race upper that would be perfect for some type of camera!

Picked one up today at the Costco up on Damen and Clyborn
They had them towards the back of the store on an end cap near the EZ UP (not with the other cameras and electronics)

It is the GoPro Hero Wide
Comes with the same case as my HD from what I can tell - 180' waterproof
4 mounts (2 curved - 2 flat) the thumb tight mounting screw and a pivoting side arm thumb screw mount to attach to a helmet + cables

It also comes with 2 lithium rechargable energizers

5mp photos
claims 3 hrs video on included batteries and 4 hours video on an 8gb card (the older ones could only go to 2 gb cards)

from my fb

So it's the 170 degree wide
Standard Def
5mp photos
comes with 2 curved mounts, 2 flat mounts - two thumb tight mounts (my HD only came with one - this has an extra one that pivots for side of helmet use)
plus they toss in 2 energier lithium batteries and cables... See More
a lot of kit for 100$
It has the same case (as far as I can tell) as my HD
which is cool - as the case is 40$ - the lens on the case is 20$ - the mounts cost 20$ I dont know what the cables are worth.. and the batteries 5$? maybe 10$
In any case after all that what - 10$ if you'd have bought it all sep?

Is the HD different or more difficult to use? Greg was having trouble with his, but it ma have been a defective unit.

I don't know about the non-hd but there area handful of known issues with the HD.

Mine would only turn on sometimes - even after pulling the battery none of the buttons would work. I had to pull the battery for a day or two before it started working again. Just pulling the battery for a half hour didn't work. It would turn on but be instantly frozen - not even the on off button that just turned it on would work.

I have a replacement on it's way from GoPro right now.

The HD I don't think is any different. But for doing track videos where I follow someone, I want the NON wide angle. With the wide angle, I can be 12 inches from someones rear tire and it looks like 2 bike lengths.

If anyone is upgrading and wants to part with a non wide angle, let me know.

the HD can do either
it's 170 in most modes but 120 in 1080p
