Producer: Lohan to star in movie about porn star

LOS ANGELES Lindsay Lohan has landed the lead role in an independent movie about 1970s porn star Linda Lovelace, one of the film's producers said.

The 24-year-old actress will play Lovelace, who shot to fame with the landmark 1972 porno movie "Deep Throat," while Bill Pullman will portray Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner in the period drama, producer Wali Razaqi told The Los Angeles Times.

The film, called "Inferno," will be based on the events of Lovelace's life and will delve into the "difficult stuff she went through and overcame," Razaqi said.

Razaqi said he and director Matthew Wilder are confidant the "Mean Girls" star will deliver.

"I would say it's probably one of the most challenging roles any actor could play and not because of the sexual content, necessarily but more because she was so battered and beat up emotionally, that I think it's gonna take everything Lindsay has to really be able to pull it off," he told the Times...

I will see this even if Ebert says it blows...

So I'm guessing the director will follow Lohan for a couple of days and will be working in the editing room afterwards.

This is just the type of project that could jumpstart that girls career and lead to a big change in her life that would prove positive...look at Drew Barrymore and Robert Downey Jr. If she has the talent to pull it off it could make all the difference in the world for her future. I'm pulling for her.

I remember the era well. Linda Lovelace will be a very tough and complex character to play. Any word as to who will portray Chuck Traynor?

I still love this girl in spite of all her crazy ways - Lovelace was a Pioneer in the Adult Film industry as well - Def Must See

Sounds like she's doing it backwards. Most actors research a role's profession before playing it in a movie. But she's playing the role in the movie as research for her future career.

Kidding aside, OTB do you think this girl isn't more messed up than the brat pack kids were? Or do you think they all reached the same leved of f'ed-up-ness but back then their personal lives weren't reality TV shows so it appears the current 'stars' are worse today.

I think it's impossible to measure how "messed up" anyone is or has been. Today it's just more in the open. She's certainly had a very public life and all of her transgressions and tribulations have been open to all, but so were the brat packers and Brittney and even Miley Cyrus is constantly hounded for her every move...In Ms. Lohan's case its my opinion that she stepped up with a strike or 2 already against her because she was left to the wolves at a very young age by parents with their own demons to wrestle and was left to fend for herself at a time when a young person needs the support of stable parents. I think she really does have acting talent. That can sustain her, but can she overcome her background and mistakes? For her sake I hope so. Brittney is doing much better ( I suspect she is Bi-Polar and medical help has been her salvation), Miley has a good support system behind her to guide her, Drew Barrymore overcame, Robert Downey Jr. did too after having to survive and experience rock bottom.
It's my hope that this project helps her mature as an adult and professional and she ultimately is looked at as a successful story of overcoming the minefield of young celebrity. God forbid she ends up like River Phoenix or Heath Ledger etc.

EDIT: It must sound like I follow this stuff really closely. Actually I don't, but it goes to show you how much all the celebrity BS has permeated and dominates our society. I just amazed myself that I knew his much about troubled young celebs!
