It's a good start. This case will now set the standard for future cases that are similar. Prosecuters will use this down the road.

Would have preferred a verdict of not-guilty due to a legal issue regarding whether her actions were truly "reckless" in the eyes of the law?

I'll take it. Sure, I'd love to see true justice served and have her run over in the same way she ran over Anita, but this is better than being found not-guilty.

I'm no lawyer but as I see it painting her nails while driving a motor vehicle IS reckless behavior. This should set a precedent and put everyone on notice that distracted operation of a motor vehicle is no longer going to be tolerated and that penalties will no longer be fines and or suspension of priviledges.
I take no joy in Ms. Hunts conviction...I know she didn't kill Anita Zaffke with malicious intent. But, she must pay the penalty for her indifferent recklessness that resulted in the death of another human being.
For the friends and family of Anita Zaffke, I hope they find closure and I hope Anita rests in peace.
Finally, I urge all who ride to always be aware and watchful when in the saddle. Ride safe always.

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!

If you want to anger a conservative, tell him a lie. To anger a liberal all one must do is tell the truth!

Reckless for sure. I'm always checking my mirrors when I'm stopped. I even set my brake up to flash for more visibility.

+1 She will not pay as much at the family has, however, I hope she takes some serious time to think about her previous actions.

I love our "corrections" facilities.
