I don't believe it. There's a lot of factors involved that would make it seem fast to a normal user.

Cool video. The lightning and the ship was the best.

I just downloaded crome and tested it with superbikeplanet.com Um yeah it rendered it pretty damn fast. But the scrolling news on Chrome came up in about 1 second. Firefox took about 10.

Chrome does work much better but I am so damn use to the Firefox interface that I went back to Firefox.
Firefox is such a pig now, typically runs using 200,000K on my machine. I remember when it only took up 67,000K of memory.

Firefox has become a bloated pig. Every other website I go to I need to stop then hit refresh just to kick into gear to load the page. On my computers at work and at home. Even with my usual sites that I visit. Right now it's using 233k as I type this.

Ive been using Chrome for at least 3 years and I love it. For some web pages I have to use a explorer add on, and the worst thing is that chrome does not have selective printing option.

I am way behind on this shit and just use Safari

What is so much better about Chrome? - I do not think Safari is bad - I am not doing any day trading or anything so if a page takes 2 seconds to load vs 1 second, my world will somehow continue to exist

I really like chrome myself. Fast and very easy to use for me. Not a system hog for me either, which is why I swapped off firefox.

Link for that add on? My work intranet pages are based on IE 6, but I've been using Chrome since last year. Some pages just don't work with Chrome.

speaking of browsers, are there any good benchmarking sites or apps? I know Safari feels faster than Chrome or FF, but I'd like to have numbers, on my system, to go with it.

There is no link. Go to chrome tools and click "Extension "
There is a ton of useful tools. One of them is IE Tab Classic - Version: 0.9.5 (thats the one I use but at work I'm testing a different one) In both you can set up specific web pages to open automatically in explorer tab under chrome. Very convenient.

Wow. Thanks for the link. Definitely changed some of my perceptions! Rep inbound. (positive, so you didn't win )

Downloaded the latest iterations of Opera and Chrome to run against Safari on that benchmark. Chrome has made some HUGE strides since the last time I played with it, and blew everything else out of the water. Google is still evil, though, so fuck 'em. Feels fast, benchmarks even faster.
Much to my surprise, Opera actually benchmarked faster than Safari on my machine. I'm curious if that has anything to do with the 3rd party tweaks I'm using on Safari (Cookies and Glims) Firefox pulled up the rear in dead last, and by a good margin.

I like Opera quite a bit on my blackberry.....just might be my new go to browser.
