Broke down on I65

I lost the belt on the van driving down toward Indy to buy a bike. It was fucked up because I really started to get a headache and feel Light headed But couldn't figure out why. So I rolled the window down to get some air Looked Down at my gauges and the temp was pretty hot and the voltage was low. I must have gotten some mild carboonoxide poisoning or something. I got some fresh air and the headache is starting to go away.

Tow truck is on it's way and I was at least able to pull into a rest area. This sucks big monkey balls! DAMN IT!

If I crack a beer now and a cop pulls up do I get a DUI even though I'm broke down?

No but thanks for the offer on the ride. Tow truck should be here in about an hour. I reset the trip odo before I left. I'm 80 miles south of home. I tell you guys what, I really started to feel lightheaded and had a bad headache. It was not good at all.

Not sure what Made me feel like shit. Maybe the fumes from the belt burning up, maybe something else. I turned the heat up really high to help cool the motor when it got hot. Not sure but I never smelled anything obvious.

Should've kept the brown van. The Jack van is cursed.

I was just telling Cathy about that Friday night driving up to WI in a snowstorm and we took down about a case of beers on the way up there .

How about when you rolled the window down and it would Not go back up? It was 10 degrees outside the van makes no heat to begin with and you start disassembling the door while were are going 75mph down the highway.

why are you posting up here? instead of doing the smarter move of trying to find and call auto parts stores to locate a belt instead of paying some grease monkey 87+ an hour to install a belt. Worse case you buy a 50 dollar serpentine belt tool and an belt and save out on the overpriced belt and labor from a repair shop plus the cost of the tow.
No insult to tow truck drivers, or grease monkeys, as i am currently a mechanic as my day job. but people do stupid shit all the time like paying me to replace lightbulbs, and serpentine belts. If your able to put a spare time on a car doing simple shit like replacing a taillight is nothing. I had a 30 something year old guy come into my shop today and complain that he had no tailights, and wanted me to check out the fuses cause there is was no way in hell his explorer could have both brake lights burn out. Turns out both bulbs were burnt out, and the scary part is this guy had all the tools in his trunk to do the work seeing he was an electrician, had an iphone in his hand, and the local carquest is less then 3 blocks from my shop.

Maybe you should be happy that people are willing to pay you to replace things on their cars. I wouldn't have a job without them, seeing as I am a "grease monkey".

I'm pretty sure nick can handle a belt change. I would rather get it towed and fix it at home so I don't get killed by a drunk.

I just find it amazing some of the stuff people bring into the shop. I can see not wanting to do your own oil changes cause damn, i hate changing oil. But people bringing in tire valve stem caps to be installed, and eletricans having lightbulbs changed.

And i was not being negative with the grease monkey term. As i stated before thats my job from 7 am till 6pm monday thru friday, untill i win the lotto.
