Hmf, Picking names.

We have been playing around with names for the new little one and its a pain in the ass because nothing was as awesome as ronin tyler!

so its been VERY tricky to find one and wanted to see what suggestions you guys had.

We want to keep the first name starting with an R to follow me and my fathers initials.

we are pretty sure that we decided on the name Ryker, from middle english means
Quote:
Son of richard
Danish origin means
Quote:
strength
So I am pretty happy about that.

plus,

"Obey the beard. "

My issue is, What about a middle name? we wanted semi unique, but something a bit more normal so if he hates his first he has a fallback.

I liked Trent, but Eva is not thrilled so I gotta look up other ideas.

I <3 trent.

suggestions please!!!

We went back and forth on mdidle names; we had the first name locked down but didn't decide on the middle until the hospital came asking for the name for her birth certificate.

We wanted the middle name to be something familial. We were going to use his or my grandmothers' maiden names (Packard or McGuire). We ultimately went with Charlotte. My dad is Charley III and his grandfather was Charles, so we thought Charlotte paid homage to both families. The name just popped in my head one day, and I'm glad it did.

Jeff's grandma is Louise and we were going to do Lucille Louise Lambert but we thought that was insane ... in the end we call her "Lucy Lu" all the time so maybe it would have been ok.

IMO since Ryker is a unique name, go with something more traditional for the middle name. Like Ryker Jospeh or Ryker Christopher. And dont forget to put the initials in order like "LCL" and "LLC" for monograms. (Mine, unfortunately, spells "APE.")

I suggested the same thing to Rick. I think a traditional would go better, but I havent found one he has liked yet. Apparently most names sound "gay". I didnt think Zane sounded that gay at all.

With a first name like Ryker, pick a middle name that's one syllable, or can be commonly shortened to one syllable.

Nate / Nathan
Steve / Steven
Paul
Ted / Theodore
Doug / Douglas
Craig
Dan /Daniel
John / Johnathan
Joe / Joseph
Greg / Gregory
Chris / Christopher
Jim / James

Etc.

If you don't give the kid a one-syllable name to use, the kids in the neighborhood will give him a nickname (not of your choosing) that will stick for life.

Craig

I have my fathers first name as my middle name. He is a pos, so I have considered changing my middle name to Thirteen. Honest. Mandy always wanted a daughter named Abigale, but nothing for a middle name. I thought of Paige (while playing Tony Hawk on PS2) and it went together perfect.

Do Ryker Henry. Or Ryker Harrison.
You don't have to use Horace; just use the H.

If you use any suggestion from a message board for naming your kids you got issues man. That being said you should seriously consider Optimus for a first name and Prime for a middle name.

We kept a little scrapbook of my pregnany (ok, by "we" I mean "me") but we kept a list of all the names we came up with. And some of them were hilarious. Jeff wanted to name the kid Camshaft if it were a boy.
It's a funny/cute little thing we're going to keep for her; in case we even become bitter old people she can see that once, in our younger days, we laughed a lot.

Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller gave his daughter the middle name. Crime-Fighter.

We went with Lilith-Danger.

I ran across some notes that my mom made when she was pregnant with me and right after I was born. It was very cool and I'm glad I found them. Very interesting to see my mom's thoughts at that time.

I can see it now:

Star Gazer Firebretha

Heavy Metal Firebreatha

Piston Rod Firebreatha (ok, that sounds like a pron name )

Electra Glide Firebretha

Gixxer Busa Firebretha

Just for laughs.

Funny, when my Mom was preggers with me and my brothers, my Dad came up with all sorts of funny names, but Mom wasn't impressed.
