Starved Rock State Park

Planning a visit to Starved Rock State park over the memorial day weekend. I have recently noticed a group ride that talked about Starved Rock as the destination and I ave been interested in checking this park out. Any suggestions on specific attractions that I should check out with the family? I see hiking is it's main attraction, but any other suggestions are encouraged and welcomed.....

while there for a ride last weekend, I noticed you can rent boats/canoes, might be fun.

Check out Matthiessen state park. It's on 178 just a few miles southwest of Starved Rock. There is a cool canyon and waterfall there.

I came here to drink some beer and kick some ass. And it looks like we are all out of beer.

They have a boat ride not boat rentals. They do have boat rentals across the river at the marina.

Starved Rock is not so much the destination as the area of the rides. I'm guessing that's why your not getting alot of responses. The park is huge, you could easily spend all day hiking around it. Be sure to check out both lookouts, while there. Hopefully boats are using the locks, while you're there. I'd ask at the information building which waterfalls are active, and which are the largest, and plan you hiking route from there.
