Short sleeve button up shirts? yes or no

So I typically wear long sleeve button up shirts or polos to work. Everytime I see a short sleeve shirt at a store I think that would be nice for warm summer days. Then I think I look like a computer nerd when I try it on. Are short sleeve shirts great wear for the summer, or are they just for those who have pocket protectors?

...? Never thought of those as "nerd wear." Plenty of business folks wear 'em all the time, all around the Loop.

As long as they're a different material than your standard dress shirt...I think it's ok. I think there's a difference between a "button up polo" and a "short sleeve dress shirt".

Short sleeve dress shirt - No. Only Dwight can wear one.

Button up polo - Yeah, like Charley Sheen in 2.5 Men. It's got it's time/place.

My opinion of course.

On this note, you're only aloud to wear a tire as part of your "outfit" if you work at a tire store, and you're on the corner pushing a sale. Haha

Also referred to as bowling shirts. No good around the office, but as casual wear it's fine.

I have a bunch of casual button up polos that I wear, untucked with dress pants often in the summer. Guess they are Charlie Sheen-ish.

And Dwight stole that look from Dennis Franz circa NYPD Blue.

How about a speedo, but you have a long sleeve shirt (dress type) tucked into the speedo with a conservative tie. Is that cool at the office? I wanna know before I break a fashion law

I think short sleeve wovens are totally dorky. That said, Jeff wears them all the time, so it's obviously not a dealbreaker.
My favorite gem we like to call the "systematic anomaly shirt," as it is clearly missing a horizontal stripe

Short sleeve dress shirt is SUCH a huge bag of fail. better to go long sleeve and roll them up after you have arrived and everyone has seen you with them down. It's also good to roll them just before you are about to complete a task as it makes you look like a serious badass.
