Very cool

"The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority approved a plan to raise the speed limit on the I-355 extension from 55 mph to 65 mph. The I-355 extension stretches from I-55 to I-80. A legislative rules committee still needs to finalize the plan."

So this is a very good thing! Now instead of the chance at getting reckless for going 30+ over, it's just a speeding ticket for 20 over.

You think the legislature is going to give up that cash cow, with a budget as completely fucked as IL's?

It has a governor at 82, but if you are going downhill and shift to neutral you can get her over 85.

if you do 75mph on 355 you're risking your life, traffic will blow by you like you're standing still. I fucking hate the speed limits in this state, it's so incredibly unsafe to stay below those speeds.

I heard interviews with some troopers when this was first proposed. They said they were against it because people don't know how to drive. And they were going to give no cushion if this becomes effective, meaning they will be giving out tickets for 1 mile over.

They must have reached their quota for tickets on that stretch. It's been a joke of a speed limit since it opened, and a big speed trap the entire time.

This, I would rather the speed limit be 75 and strictly enforced then it currently sits at 55mph and loosely enforced.

ya semis are even worse, I was talking to a truck driver who got a speeding ticket, his company responded by governing his truck to 55 mph.

we arent governed, we just get a talking too if we hit the report too many times in a month.
