Portable traffic analysers

These things are popping up all over 75th street, does that mean they are about to do some construction? I also noticed a truck with a shit ton of equipment including a rack of super bright lights shining down at the road way last week driving slowly down 75th...

I'd love to know more about those. I know they count cars, but I don't know more than that.

Is that what those things are? They installed some on the block next to me a couple weeks ago before they started doing construction on Waukegan Rd up here.

They count cars, and the higher end ones can measure speed as well. They're basically used to either determan traffic flow to figure out the impact of construction, or get an idea of how fast people REALLY go on streets to make adjustments to speed limits or enforcment policies...

always wondered what dose dings were 2

they popped up in my town too cuz of construction.

I'm assuming the ones that don't tell the speed are useless, since if it counts cars 1 per minute, theres no traffic or traffic.
