Its not as bad as you make it out to be. As long as you don't switch to the plan with tethering you are grandfathered in on the current unlimited data plan.

Every gig over 2. Which actually is a lot. A lot of guys who are heavy users are finding that they in general are coming in under 2 a month.

Sucks if you plan on watching full episodes on the ipad over 3G.

here's the part that makes no sense, they have a 200MB package and a 2gb package. WTF are they thinking? I lightly use the internet on my iPhone and pull 500-600MB easy so anyone dumb enough to take that 200mb plan is going to find themselves paying through the damn nose for that phone. AT&T has always had a "silent" cap at 5GB/mo which was easy to hit if you were tethering but then they went and removed the tethering option. Typical AT&T, they suck ass and so does their service, they just want to blame the consumer rather than their lack of investment over the past 3 years.

In the last year, the most i've used in a month is 1.7 gigs. I usually hover around 1 gig/month. You guys complaining should check out your usage.

And wi-fi doesn't factor into the capped data usage.

Are they about to come out with 4G unlimited and use this as a way to get people to upgrade?

Sprint did this. My new overdrive mobile hot spot is capped on 3G, but unlimited on 4G. oh and let me tell you, it's a pimp little box.

People are just bitching for the sake of bitching. If you are with ATT, nothing will change even when you get a new phone, this only effect new customers.

I know, I find it hilarious. Taking a step back and looking at the situation it seems people have developed almost a sports team like loyalty towards their carriers and their phone manufacturers as of late. it's as if we argue enough our carrier or phone will win the game when in all actuality, there is no game. beyond enslaving us into further consumerism and debt. it's genius really, I don't know how they pulled it off, but I gotta give them props for doing it.

I think they are doing it because of the 4G rollout. Verizon already said a few days ago that once their 4G is fully rolled out they will be removing the unlimited data plan as well. Story is here

Verizon will be doing the same shortly.

If you're going to use a shitload of bandwidth, pay for it accordingly.

I'm on my blackberry constantly, (ask my wife, she hates the thing) and my data usage is usually between 30-50MB.

It was higher with the iphone, but usually under 200 ish.

LTE with AT&T is going to be a while. At least a year or two until you see significant and stable coverage.

Fun thought for you AT&T folks salivating for the new iPhone. If it's 4G, do you think Apple is going to let AT&T have it when AT&T won't have their 4G network up for another 16 months??

Has the new iPhone coming out been said that it will run on 4G?

More and more I think people are getting wise to the scam and getting sick of paying up to 5 times to access the same internet.

I'm currently testing one of the Sprint overdrive mobile hotspots at my house to see if I can get some decent speeds so I can drop comcast. if I bought an Ipad I would buy the non 3g version an just carry my hotspot with me. unfortunately I am stuck paying for 2 internet access plans on both of our iPhones. this shit has to stop. it's like when the cable company used to charge for each TV back in the day, people will find a way around it, till the companies give up, but this time they are being smarter about it and requiring separate access plans.

I have been saying on here for years now we need to have multiple providers in the market place to sell internet services, but you only need to buy from one.

Pay your monthly fee whatever it is for unlimited data and get your family access code. punch it into your home router, cell phones, ipads, tv set top boxes, laptops etc. now all units are online through one service provider and done. the technology is there, they just don't want to offer it as they think they would loose money, unfortunately I think it's going to take the government to do some arm twisting in this arena and that just pisses me off even more as gov't shouldn't be involved in business.
