Realtor in the Naperville area?

Can anyone recommend a good realtor in the Naperville area? Has anyone used a Redfin realtor to purchase a place before? I like the fact that it's very DIY but as a first time buyer I'm not sure that it's the best idea.

I don't know why we are willing to pay Realtor commissions. Go on Zillow and find something you like, man up and negotiate a great deal and don't pay some glorified house wife a commission. Realtors in general are lazy and overpaid for what they do.

How are they overpaid? Because they get a percentage of the sale? It's a 100% commission based job. If they don't sell they don't get paid. Simple as that.

I of course have used a good realtor for the last two commercial leases I've made. I know a lot of commercial people that are very good. On the residential side I've yet to meet one that was a decent marketer. And I think that because they are paid on a percent of the total sale that they only motivated to get a deal done not get their client the best deal. With the internet I just don't see the point of paying someone a 6% commission.

I don't see how the area really matters (naperville isn't THAT big) but I'm looking to move into the unicorporated area just south of springbrook prairie- between 87th/95th and 59/washington. Price is no more than 300k. Looking for a 3bed/2bath/2car garage/full basement, on a decent sized lot. I'm going to give Redfin a shot and see how that goes, their site is pretty good.

my g/f had one and she didn't do anything at all. Talk about being getting rich quick for doing nothing. Good real estate attorney is where its at.

Sounds like redfin might be the way to go then. My fiance's mother is a paralegal at a real estate attorneys office so I should have that end covered.

That I can agree with because that is exactly how my Realtor was. But it took him 6 months to find me a place and that included driving me all over the place and lunches on him. So if you do the math, the amount of money he got for the time he put in from the sale was peanuts.

And TDS, if Realtors got rich quick for doing nothing than everyone would be a Realtor.

Alright well in the last 2 months I've looked at damn near 50 homes with redfin in the plainfield/naperville/batavia/geneva/st charles areas. If you want to just get in houses they're great but if you have any questions for the selling agent they're horrifically slow.
I'm also extremely sick of combing the internet looking for houses. A lot of the good ones that pop up are under contract within less than a week. These reason alone are pushing me towards using a real realtor that can do the searching for me based on what I'm looking for and will work to answer all my questions.

Oh ya, and for all the wise ass career choice remarks I made the paper today

A good realtor will scan the ads for you and only show you what you're looking for. That's why they get paid. Use Patty. She's good to look at and does a stellar job.

YES. My realtor was awesome, she always had a plan for the days we were going looking, and was constantly sending me new places that I might be interested in. Being a MILF helped too
