What do you love on riding a bike?

There are a lot of things that I like about riding a bike, but there is always that one or two things that get the school girl giggle out of me, do you guys have that too?

for me there are two things I just smile in my helmet and probably look like I just had an orgasm...

1. taking off from a light, making a turn and feeling how your front end comes loose and you pretty much go on one wheel during you turn and ride out a wheelie.

2. going at good pace with the motor spinning high up there and starting to turn fast , when you can hear and feel the motor spinning higher just by turning left and right and the diameter of the wheel getting smaller and the Motor revs higher to compensate.

I'm just wondering, if you guys have something like that too and what it is?
I used to get all excited topping the bike out and just riding flat out ( ) ... But that gets old after time and the two things above seem to never get old for me...

The thing that hooked me was the acceleration. The first time I rode a bike I was astounded by the acceleration, back then I was into cars and it made my 300hp car seem like it was sitting still. Then the logical part of my brain kicked in and told me that this feeling of getting thrown back and my stomach dropping can all be had for 6K new. Another realization was that bikes are so much cheaper than cars that I can afford to get a new bike every 2-4 years. Couldn't do that with a car.
Now I am still hooked on the speed but appreciate a lot more things about riding. Railing turns on a track to taking a tame Sun. ride. Plus the great people I have met by being a part of this "hobby". Lastly I like the ever present learning only biking can provide. Even 8+ yrs I learn something every ride.
The biggest think riding has given is confidence. You really never know how much things can be pushed until you ride.

For me its two things.

1. When i take turn faster than i have before (even a slight bit) and nail every portion of it.

2. First time i Opened the throttle this season (with the chain conversion kit) and started to feel the front end get loose then slowly come back down. First power wheelie on a 600 rolling on throttle, not chopping. (maybe an inch max though). Not kidding i was giggling harder than a 16 year old school girl meeting justin timberlake

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

I love the feeling of dropping in to turn 1 in the first session of the morning. It makes me smile like an idiot inside my helmet.

Dragging my knee.

Feeling that change in the motor as the rev's get up to about 8k. The sound of the bike changes, the motor gets more powerful and the bike seems happier at speed than it is rolling around slowly.

I agree with everyone on the acceleration. Just to see that needle climb so high up that Tach and get the motor gets MORE powerful as it goes up is great.

The bond that most people have on bikes - even though you dont know someone but just because they are on a bike you wave - shit like that dont happen in my Mazda, people would think I was insane if I did that, but with a bike it's accepted

Stress relief - They told us in the MSF course to not ride when you are pissed or upset but I disaggreed. There is almost nothing that makes me at ease like taking a 15-20 min ride to nowhere. Life always seems to make a little more sense when I get back.

This.

I'll have to trust you on number 1, my motor/gearing doesn't allow for power wheelies out of corners

Having the engine of a vintage bike roar to life with only one kick.
Putting any motorcycle in gear for the start of a ride and the feeling that comes as you ease the clutch out and both feet come up to rest on the pegs...you are now one with the machine.
On a bike you are so much more a part of the experience...you see, feel, smell and taste a motorcycle ride. In anything else its more like watching it on TV or through a closed window.
Both on road, off road and even while racing a motorcycle provides experiences that can't be had any other way...watching hills and mountains grow into the horizon as you ride toward them...negotiating a tight woods trail...approaching a hill/jump with throttle cranked and not knowing what's up at the top and knowing full well when you get there you're going to leave the ground and fly...working for lap after lap focused on passing the guy in front of you and getting it done before the checkered flag...cruising a scenic backroad at a leisurely pace with your honey on the pillion with her arms around you.
There's so much more I could easily make this the longest post ever.

And................ people who don't ride think we're the crazy ones!

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!

If you want to anger a conservative, tell him a lie. To anger a liberal all one must do is tell the truth!

Add to it pullin mad wool and that sums it up for me
