3D TV's

Long story short, my current TV broke for the last time, and I'm getting a large credit to spend at Best Buy. I was gonna get a bigass LCD, but I started looking at the 3D TV's and thinking "what if...". They've got some pretty decently priced packages that I'm considering, but I'm wondering if this is the type of 3D that will be around for a long time, or is there something not far down the line that will render the current tech obsolete. Opinions?

Toshiba will be launching a glasses- free TV later this year or early next.

If you need one now, the Panny VT20/25 is the one to get.

The one that I watched (at best buy)I had to wear glasses. I got a headache in about 5 min. I dunno if I could deal with that on a constant basis

3D is not ready yet. Saw lots of examples at CES and they were all pretty bad. I would just buy the best plasma you can afford with the credit and wait a few years until the 3d matures and becomes better. I am with Steve on the motion thing, gives headaches.

And very little is actually made to be in 3D. Most is cobbled into 3D format just to hop on the band wagon.

That said, some sports events have 3D cameras on the sidelines and have been hosting 3D specials at bars and even movie theaters to push the technology.

I can't give recommendations for big TVs since I don't have one.

No shit. That will happen as soon as 3D tv's some down in price. They are always making something new to command a premium price.

I actually could trade straight up for the Mitsu 65 3d DLP but I REALLY don't want to have to deal with another bulb

plasma is a gamble for me since I primarily use my TV for video games and my HTPC, meaning lots of static images and burn in

Don't forget to use this coupon for 10% off of many regular priced item.
It should offset the sales tax.

Check out the large Samsung LED systems. Thin, Incredible picture. 120Hz 1080p

I really wouldn't worry about 3D now. It's going to be a couple of years before good pics without glasses are possible. Until then, stick with 2D TV.

maybe, but At the time he wasn't really trying to sell me anything, we were looking at the Tv's in the price range of my credit, so there was little to nothing to gain. He said "let's find you a bigass plasma", showed me a couple then asked if I game a lot. Then we looke at LCDs inthe credit range, so at no point was there never any real upsell.

But I'll look into it, maybe burn in isn't really an issue anymore. Itbdid happen to my friends plasma 2 years ago from playing too much COD.

My Panny plasma is almost 3 years old now and with kids they leave their 4:3 cartoon content on all day. I have zero issues.
