How do I find out who owns a phone number?

I've got some piece of shit who obviously knows me pranking my cell phone. I was curious if anyone knows how I can find out who it is? I've already tried dialing the number from my google voice number to see if I can make out whose voice it is. And now I'm just debating putting the number on 4chan and letting them have fun with it.

Any ideas?

It's really simple if it's a landline. A cellphone is harder. 4chan sounds like a good idea.

Yeah, that site is good if it's a landline. A cellphone number search will only give you the carrier and crap. They say you can pay a "small fee" and a name and address MAY be available.

So find out the carrier and lodge a complaint with their abuse department. LE will basically just laugh at you.

Well the add is still up and man is he angry. I'm not going to admit to putting his number on CL but I'm thinking about texting him telling him to stop before I call the cops or something.

Funny thing, he does not really express any emotion in his messages, almost like he is just reading stuff.

Just a thought, but if he does not block his telephone number, can you just block the calls or forward them back to his number so that he can not leave you another voice mail?

Take it to the cops and be careful, you just don't know what kind of nut case you are dealing with.

Since you say it was a land line, you had no luck with the various reverse searches out there?
